The Disrespect to the Thai People

Call me a social justice warrior, maybe a real one.. Anyway this site is an absolute disgrace in reporting news on what is happing in Thailand. Being someone that cares about people if you want to report news, then report on local news properly. I don't want to hear about some German guy who was found with a single magic mushroom when in the same day a Thai guy beat the absolute crap out of his girlfriend and she ended up in hospital requiring emergency aid. Just an example, but not an uncommon one. This site doesn't report the reality of Thailand meaning the Thai victims of crime are often neglected and people of Europe or European decent are actively reported on, no matter how petty the incident. Apart from farang kee nok and some delusional Thai people this site is reporting against the people. You are not reporting on the injustices and issues of Thai people for the most part, and are overall reporting unfairly on foreign visitors/residents. Please try to improve so you can become respected.

There was recently a story of a guy getting married. he had 100K for sinsod. His wife to be had him beat up to take the money.

No, there are plenty of reports of Thais behaving badly. Plenty of love triangle murders, kids killing their parents.

But given that this site is geared towards expats, the expat stories will be reported unevenly I guess.

It does attract a certain kind of whinger , doesn't it! 😏

Rule No 1 - You will not criticize.

Rule No 2 - Refer to Rule No 1.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this is an Expat forum. Reporting on and about Expat issues! Not a general Thai News website. You want news on Thailand visit a Thai news website!

The news that reaches the media does seem selective, but that's the same all over the world. One death makes the news another one doesn't

And yet all the news is taken from the Thai media!

Perhaps the OP should vent at the source not the outlet.

I do agree that the Thai media seems to favor and emphasise and often sensationalise on the foreigners activities more than their own people.

Hey "don't shoot the messenger" 😀

As for "reporting on local news"

I would think that this site is already more respected than the Thai people are.

Just that most members on this forum know very well about Thailand. And we all wish that Thai people would at least try to behave in a more civilized manner, so that in return, foreigners would find more to be respected in this culture...

Yes but then it would become more like the places we don't really want to be, you know, because we're here.

We all rage against the coconut at times, but we breathe, have some of the terrible beer sold here, and chill out. Because in the end nobody gives a sh🙊t what we think.

No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to this site. You are more than welcome to go away.

ASEAN NOW can only report news that is reported in the local and English press, we don't make news up or have reporters on the streets with notepads and cameras,  suggest instead of lambasting us you talk directly to the local news sources which we use as a basis for passing news on to our readers, to increase their coverage

As already pointed out to you if you don't like our offerings then with respect please don't read it.

You also have the option of watching Thai television for Thai News.
