Come back to thailand

Recommended Posts

I am asking for a friend of mine, Switzerland passport. He is going to come back to thailand with a tourist visa but last time he forgot to go to the immigration office to cancel his marriage extension the day of divorce( he already exit the country some months ago by the way with no issues). Can he come back with no issues? And he won't have any problem to extend these 60 days tourist visa for another 30 days?

Assume he exited Thailand without a reentry permit.

In that case his permit ends.

He can return with tourist visa and yes can obtain a 30 day extension.

Yes.

The extension is simply a permission of stay with an expiry date.

If you exit Thailand without a reentry permit then the POS is gone.

The friend won't have an issue..

The other alternative is simply to return and enter visa exempt.

Depends on plans ongoing.

If he only left due to divorce he could consider obtaining METV that would provide almost 9 months and provide time to consider future options.

How old is the friend

If he does have a reentry permit, then his extension is still valid.

In that case, is it still possible to get a tourist visa?

Assume he would apply for eVisa (tourist)

That might be granted however on arrival in Thailand io should notice his reentry permit.

OP did not indicate his friend had a reentry permit.

my friend has already obtained 60 days tourist evisa from his country. He didn't have a re-entry permit last time, he just left

A good reminder for the rest that in Thailand never buy...always rent !!

You don't buy people.

Sad you can't have a relationship where you don't have to pay for sex.

How long after his divorce did he leave the country?

If he is planning on extending his tourist visa, an eagle eyed IO might ask him why he is not on a marriage extension any more. Then may come the questions about when the divorce was, and possible overstay.

(the above is worst case scenario, but not impossible)
