He is going to come back to thailand with a tourist visa but last time he forgot to go to the immigration office to cancel his marriage extension the day of divorce( he already exit the country some months ago by the way with no issues). The extension is simply a permission of stay with an expiry date. If you exit Thailand without a reentry permit then the POS is gone. The friend won't have an issue.. The other alternative is simply to return and enter visa exempt. Depends on plans ongoing. If he only left due to divorce he could consider obtaining METV that would provide almost 9 months and provide time to consider future options. OP did not indicate his friend had a reentry permit. my friend has already obtained 60 days tourist evisa from his country. If he is planning on extending his tourist visa, an eagle eyed IO might ask him why he is not on a marriage extension any more.
