May 18, 20242 yr Popular Post Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin claimed today that he was not aware of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s recent meetings with representatives of Myanmar’s opposition groups and insisted Thailand is open to talks with all sides in the conflict-torn country. Speaking to reporters at the Government House, Srettha said that as an immediate neighbour of Myanmar, Thailand has the legitimacy to initiate talks within the framework of ASEAN’s “five-point consensus”. “I don’t know whether there were such talks. But I believe that everybody harbours good intentions for the country,” he said when asked about reports that Thaksin had held talks with representatives from armed groups fighting against the military government in Myanmar. Srettha insisted that Thailand’s Foreign Ministry and security agencies have been talking to all groups in Myanmar. “But it is supposed to be confidential,” he added. The prime minister said Thailand is strictly following ASEAN’s consensus to help resolve the crisis in Myanmar. Newly-appointed Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa said earlier today that he is not worried about reports that Thaksin has met with representatives of Myanmar’s opposition groups. Thaksin acted in his own capacity when he held discussions with Myanmar rebel groups fighting the military junta, he said. May 18, 20242 yr Popular Post I thought Thaksin was pretty well on his death-bed. Now - miraculously - he is mediating talks with Burmese rebel groups in Thailand's name without the prime minister knowing that Thaksin is now the de-facto "ambassador" for rebel affairs between Thailand and non-government ethnic groups in Myanmar. Amazing recovery. Amazing Thailand. Simply amazing!

What a wimp to come out with such a spineless answer, surely, he as PM should be regulating who is talking with whom when it comes down to international governmental talks or did Thaksin forget to inform him of his activities ..................LOL
May 18, 20242 yr Popular Post Quote PM Srettha Unaware of Thaksin’s Myanmar Rebel Talks Just say you don't wanna talk about it, it's more honest and doesn't portray you as an ignorant puppet.

Amazing recovery. Amazing Thailand. Simply amazing! Plenty of ex leaders do this sort of thing, comes with the ego. Aussie, Keating embarrassingly with the Chinese foreign minister recently. Trump, Clinton, Blair, Boris J, all guilty. And never saw Thaksin as acting in Thailand's name, just as Keating's meeting wasn't on behalf of Australia.

May 18, 20242 yr Let's get this straight. An ex P.M. who was democratically elected but ousted by a military coup meets members of anti junta groups in a neighbouring country which has been taken over by the military. Yet, posters on here use this meeting as an excuse to kick said ex P.M. yet no critique of the junta. Says it all about the sad Mr T obsessives dunnit?

And you make no mention that the 'democratically elected PM' fled the country when he was charged with numerous serious offences and was about to go to jail for a lengthy period. Further, the serious offences he committed involved ordering a Thai bank to lend big money to the Myanmar government so they could buy several very very expensive products from his companies. Now he says he's 'all better' and discharged from his jail sentence / sick bed and he's weedled his way into a situation where he can resume his nefarious activities with the Myanmar gov't. His plan is working. He's tricky and he's a conman.

That went quiet very quickly, no questions asked about that was there, your not Neutral in any sense of the word. GFY
