May 30, 20242 yr Form OS/01/01 I am currently completing above Application Form. When I get to Section 10: Countersignatory: Do I need to get someone to fill this part? It says "IF a countersignatory is needed, they must fill in this section after the rest of the form has been filled in." I can't see if I need one or not just for a renewal. If so, does it have to be a UK National? The reason I ask is it says "Our work includes checking your details are genuine. We may need to contact you." I was thinking of asking my Thai GF to to it, or my German neighbour. TIA.
May 30, 20242 yr You only need a counter-signatory if your appearance has changed, or you're a child.
May 30, 20242 yr I haven't used a counter-signatory for my last three passports. I've aged a bit each time, but it's still obviously me.
May 31, 20242 yr Full guidance here, covers when it is needed and who can sign. https://www.gov.uk/countersigning-passport-applications I have signed pictures for people, and it is rare to be contacted to check any details, but the Passport Office has called a few times, mostly when the application is a child’s first passport.
