A Taiwanese boss, referred to as "Mr. Lin", is being detained by the police in Yilan County, northeast Taiwan. He is suspected of possibly being involved in the death of a Thai migrant worker, who was in Taiwan illegally. This news was reported by Taiwan's Liberty Times.

The worker, from Thailand, traveled to Taiwan on a vacation visa but ended up working unlawfully in Yilan until his death. The Thai embassy in Taiwan got involved when the man's family in Thailand contacted the Thai police, saying they hadn't heard from him for a while.

As a result, the local police in Yilan County found the Thai man's body near a graveyard. Mr. Lin, the deceased's Taiwanese employer, was then brought in for questioning.

Initially, Mr. Lin denied knowing about the worker’s death. However, he later admitted that he was aware of his death, according to the English language Taiwanese newspaper. Mr. Lin said that the Thai man was a serious drinker and had been sick the previous week. Instead of seeing a doctor, the Thai man self-medicated with store-bought drugs.

On Monday, the man's girlfriend from Thailand found him dead in his room and told Mr. Lin. Fearing prosecution for hiring an illegal worker, Mr. Lin persuaded the girlfriend and two other Thai workers to leave the body near a graveyard.

According to Taiwanese media, the police are now trying to find out the real cause of the man’s death.
