Popular Post webfact
Thailand’s prolonged political crisis and poor management of the economy over the past few decades have taken a huge toll on the country’s growth. The Thai economy grew just 1.5 per cent in the first quarter of this year after having expanded 1.7 per cent in the fourth quarter of last year and 1.9 per cent for the full year in 2023, according to state-owned think-tank National Economic and Social Development Council. The country has been bogged down by sluggish growth for decades since the 1997 financial crisis. Budget woes One of the major causes of the stagnation this year has been the time lag in disbursement of the fiscal 2024 budget due to the delay in its passing by Parliament, which led to a decline in public spending. A political deadlock after the general election in May 2023, which did not give any party a clear majority, led to a delay in the formation of a coalition government. And there is so much that could have been done. Popular Post mfd101
Half the population lives in the Third World, the other half in the Second. Only a completely changed education system will achieve change, and that's a 20-year project at least, starting with kindergarten & working its way up to tertiary levels. Then there's corruption to be tackled, preferably by the non-corrupt (if you can find them). Think Batista's Cuba 1950. Think Fidel 1958. Hint hint ... 4 2

OneZero
Quote: "Year after year capital spending has been getting squeezed, accounting for just about 20 per cent of the total outlay. The public and opposition parties could cry hoarse over budget allocations to the Defense Ministry and related organizations but could change almost nothing." Prime example: A totally unnecessary, blackmail susceptible, & future budgetary expensive albatross known as the RTN Admirals Chinese submarine.

Srikcir
Not only do repetitive coups cost money to stage and operate, they stall or slow the growth rate, and cause inflation. Thailand ranks no.3 in the worlds most frequent coup d'état country. Sept. 22, 2021 https://www.nationthailand.com/vdo/40006505
