Bad People

Hi there, is there a word in Thai for bad people? A women said its sa-lo-lor or something like that, I couldn't quite catch it. What was the word she said and what did it mean exactly. She just said we don't say bad people in Thai, we say sa-lo-lor, or something like that. What does it mean?

This means bad person คนเลว which translates as “Kon Leeow” could it be this you heard? If not then maybe what she said is in a local dialect.

สาระเลว [să:rá le:w]

(r is pronounced l by Lao speakers)

This is much worse than คนเลว (which nobody uses)

Don't ever use it, you will get a beating.

I believe it's actually spelt สารเลว and means "despicable" (adjective).  You need to stick คน /khon/ in front to mean despicable person - คนสารเลว.

Sa lor is an Isaan word . The meaning is not so much bad as irritating,  mischievous, naughty , interfering.

Sometimes used to describe children as well as adults.

 

Logically,  a bad person would be ... kon mai dee or as someone already said , kon laew.

Youth are right about the spelling. 

But NEVER add คน (or a name) in front of it, it makes it sound even worse than without คน

Yes.

Generally,  I try not to learn bad expressions. 

They are dangerous if I use them with the wrong people. 

I just scold them in my native language,  they get the message.
