Chaiyaphum — At 3:20 AM, on June 21st, 2024, Mueang Chaiyaphum firefighters and relevant agencies responded to a massive fire at a cannabis plantation warehouse on Chaiyaphum-Tadton Road in Mueang, Chaiyaphum.

Local officials reported that the commercial cannabis plantation had over 10 air conditioners running 24 hours a day to maintain appropriate temperatures inside the warehouse. The fire, which broke out inside the warehouse, quickly spread due to the heat-insulating foam walls, filling the area with thick smoke. Firefighters managed to control the blaze after a 30-minute operation.

According to local officials, an unidentified local resident alerted the officials after hearing an explosion from the warehouse and seeing thick smoke cover the sky. Many employees at the cannabis plantation panicked before calling for help.

Unlike the Northern regions around Chang Mai, local residents are not complaining about the smoke.

We called them friction fires.  When the mortgage rubs up against the insurance policy.

There's another name for that, but we're not allowed to use it any more.

Nothing so fancy.  I drank beer with several volunteer fire departments in my youth.  We occasionally put out fires, too, when the need arose.

Edit:  When the Plectron went off, for anyone old enough to remember those.
