The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) has issued a severe weather warning for an approaching storm that is set to bring thunderstorms and heavy rain across 45 provinces, including Bangkok.

The forecast anticipates significant rainfall, potentially leading to disruptions and flooding in affected areas.

The TMD highlighted that a strong southwest monsoon is now active over the Andaman Sea, the entirety of Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

This robust weather pattern is expected to result in marked thunderstorms and intense rain spanning multiple parts of the country, which might extend from today into the coming days.

In response, the TMD has urged residents in the forecasted areas to brace themselves for possible emergency situations such as flash floods and landslides.

They have especially warned small boats to refrain from going to sea during the storm, as the conditions are predicted to heighten sea turbulence significantly.

Key affected regions include the northern provinces of Mae Hong Son, Phrae, and Nan, which may see up to 70% of their area experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rains.

Likewise, the northeastern parts like Loei and Nong Bua Lamphu, and the central provinces such as Uthai Thani and Kanchanaburi, are also expected to face similar weather conditions.

Bangkok and its surrounding vicinities are particularly warned of heavy rains that could significantly affect daily activities and cause travel disruptions.

Temperatures might fluctuate between 24°C during the dawn and escalate to around 35°C as the day progresses.

Citizens are advised to stay up-to-date with the latest weather reports and follow local authority directives to safeguard against the potential adversities caused by this severe weather condition.
