Thailand gears up amid US-China tensions to boost local economy
As the economic strife between the United States and China continue, Thailand has surprisingly emerged as an unexpected winner on the global front. The Southeast Asian country is preparing to become a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, which could potentially change the automotive scenario not just regionally, but globally as well. This news was revealed during the 4th Sweden-Thailand Sustainable Development Forum, a key event of the Sustainability Expo 2024 held in Bangkok. Taking place from late September to early October, the forum gathered a diverse group of experts and diplomats to discuss urgent environmental problems. The expo’s theme, "Good Balance, Better World," highlighted a key point: being sustainable and profitable can go hand in hand. The ongoing trade dispute between the world's economic giants has unintentionally created an opportunity for Thailand and its neighbouring countries. Industry experts, including Volvo Car Thailand’s Managing Director Chris Wailes and Siamnat Panassorn from the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand, see these geopolitical challenges as possible stepping stones for the Thai EV industry. Thailand's well-established automobile industry serves as a firm base for this possible transformation. With a powerful network of 2,500 parts suppliers and a workforce of 800,000 strong, the country is well-prepared to make a significant impact in the EV sector. Panassorn, however, urges for more government incentives to fully unlock Thailand's potential as an EV export hub. While the future for EVs seems promising, specialists at the forum stressed that broad adoption depends on progress in battery technology and charging infrastructure. They predict a crucial turning point will occur when EVs match the price of traditional vehicles and can offer a driving range of 1,000 kilometres on a single charge. Despite the promise of the EV industry, Thailand's total car production witnessed a slight fall in 2023. The 2.2% decrease, largely due to a drop in pickup truck production, serves as a reminder of the industry's challenges, including an increase in household debt and stricter lending policies. As the global initiative to fight climate change gains momentum, Thailand’s possible transformation into an EV manufacturing hub could signify a remarkable milestone. This change not only brings potential economic benefits but also aligns with global sustainability goals, possibly placing Thailand at the front of the green car revolution. The coming years will be decisive if Thailand can successfully balance its economic goals with environmental responsibilities. With the global car industry at a turning point, all eyes will be on Thailand to see if it can take advantage of this opportunity and become a leader in the EV era. Boris Johnson Suggests Putin Would Have Avoided Invading Ukraine if Trump Were President
But Johnson flew in precisly to tell Zelensky not to sign a peace treaty! They could have had peace, even with Johnson and Biden and Harris! But they just decided, no, let's just fight. So Johnson flies to Zelensky to tell him, don't make peace, let's just fight and at the same time he says Trump's presence alone would have prevented war? But you could have prevented war Boris, you and Biden and Kamala. You just decided to fight, you <deleted>. -

Honda ADV 160 (2025) – Stiff Suspension: Should I Upgrade?
I do not have an ADV but whenever I put my PCX in for a service, it is quite 'bouncy' afterwards. The guys there definitely over-inflate the tyres. After a while, it settles down.... .........until the next service of course. The bike is two up more often than solo. The passenger feels it more than I do. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
45) The core issue is likely to be the source of the funds used in the home country to settle the credit card bill and whether those funds are exempt or assessable. 46) The TRD doesn’t care about credit agreements or debt in the card holders home country, only about the events that took place in Thailand and the funds used to facilitate them. -

Could an October Surprise Shift the Deadlocked Trump-Harris Race?
Very true. Plus, the Biden/Harris team have had more than 3 YEARS to fix the crisis that they created by cancelling Trump's orders. Why did they do nothing in that time? -

METV or Visa Exemption for multiple short-stay entries? (+ internal flights).
This has been discussed before. A re-entry permit is for a visa or its associated extension of permission of stay. You can not get a re-entry permit for a visa exempt entry (and why would you bother anyway, just enter again on visa exempt as he does such short stays) -

Thai man distributes explicit videos of ex-girlfriend after contracting STD
Says something IMO. She can get and give him an awful disease without telling him she had it, and there is no charge/offence? Posting pictures of her is definitely out of order, but 5 years in jail?? -

METV or Visa Exemption for multiple short-stay entries? (+ internal flights).
That is correct. My reason for asking is that your travel pattern is very unusual in that the visits so short. Even moreso that you are based in UK. METV must be applied for in your passport country or where you have permanent resident status. Suggest that you stick with visa exempt entries. What have you been doing to cover onward flight for visa exempt entry often required by airline at departure. Good point by @Liquorice. If you are having repeat visits within 60 days then a reentry permit can allow that. Available at airport on day of departure 1000b single reentry -

Russia won't take over Ukraine if a settlement can be reached. Should have been done long ago. Supplying weapons to the Ukranians so they can keep bleeding and dying is cruel. Unless you think that the US and other countries should join in and start WW3 over Ukraine. Is that what you want? Because frankly I can't see any other option. Do you want YOUR son or grandson or nephew to die for Ukraine?
