In the past month I have ordered quite some replacement parts for my car on both platforms. Some of those parts cost several thousand baht, and in that case I add a message to my order that I require an invoice for tax purposes, but of course also for warranty purposes.

Those parts come with a 1 year warranty, but in fact you don't know the seller, other than by their username on the platform.

No company name, address or even a phone number, so if there is an issue within the year where do you claim?

Shopee or Lazada will take no responsibility beyond the 3 or 7 days you have to return faulty goods.

So last month I order a steering rack on Shopee, and inform the seller of my requirements, to which he agrees. Of course no invoice included on delivery.

Start contacting the seller who plainly refuses to issue an invoice. After some days, contacting Shopee many times, they succeed in getting the seller issue an invoice, after which he blocks me right away.

Few days ago order a pair of wheel bearings from a seller on Shopee, and in the listing is clearly mentioned, includes warranty card. Again I inform the seller that I expect warranty card and invoice, but he says they don't issue warranty cards, and he doesn't even bother to answer about the invoice.

The wheel bearings are from GSP brand, and they carry a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer, and warranty card with serial number is inserted in the product packing, as I know from earlier orders from the GSP brand.

So why would the seller even go to the extent of removing the warranty card? I discovered the same seller on Lazada, and there a buyer posted a review, with picture evidence, that he actually sends out recycled products, so that explains it of course.

Anyway I cancelled the order and ordered the same bearings from a different seller on Lazada.

Informed the seller of my requirements, to which he agreed.

Order arrives, with warranty card included, but again no invoice.

Contacted the seller a few times in the past 48 hours, but no response to messages. Contacted Lazada and they say I can return the goods, but that is no solution.

I ordered and paid for goods, and expect a tax invoice, otherwise I can continue wasting time ordering from different sellers and returning.

Of course the reason they don't want to issue an invoice is that they don't pay taxes on their profits, but isn't it the platform's obligation that all duties are paid on the articles sold on their platform?

So, what is my next option to secure that I have an invoice, and a known seller address in case i need warranty?

BTW : All orders are from Thailand based sellers.

I was aware of that already, but since I will have to pay taxes in Thailand now, i also want invoices for major expenses to include in my return.

So how do i proceed? Do I visit the local revenue office, show them the order and the messages, and they will take care of it?

Hmm, consider that as a rhetorical question.

Sorry, assuming one is paying Thai tax what is the benefit for tax filers to hold receipts? Is vat deductible (7%)?

*Individual not company/ corporate filing

Thanks

For most people, they only allow individuals to file tax invoices as expenses for personal income tax deductions during special 'promotions' to stimulate economy for the past couple of years, it was for purchases during January-February of that tax year and limited to 50,000 baht, for last year it was only from shops that has e-tax receipt where the shop also file it electronically with revenue department

there are special case where you classify as 'freelancer' then you can use tax invoice on purchases as deductions

It's usually always better to register as a company to be able to get more opportunity to claim expense

On Shopee there's an option to request tax invoice and to type in the details you required, but only a few shops seem to respect that, often you need to chat with them to provide tax invoice but shops that don't offer tax invoice at all will not have that option available

on things like office supplies, I often see the fact that they can produce tax invoice advertised in the picture in thai or as description, the expectation would be that most shops can't provide tax invoice and shops that do try to differentiate themselves
