Hello Mods, I still can't quote from more than one post like Rod Kalashnikov can, and I've got more postings than he has.

Please take a moment or two to explain it to me briefly in step by step mode.

By the way, at least I can quote singularly unlike some people (RandomChances and Chanchao to name a couple) so I'm half way there after all.

Kind regards,

G.Scamp

This is how I usually do quotes from multiple posts:

1. Set up any duplicate browser windows that may come in handy.

2. Scroll to the first post I want to quote.

3. Click the 'quote' button for that post.

4. Chop out the irrelevant parts of the quoted text - it appears in a box (probably a 'textarea') below the main editing box.

5. If I want multiple quotes from the same posting, cut and paste the subsequent quotes and delimit them with the QUOTE marks provided by the 'quote' button provided for editing. They're normal text, so they're easy to fix if you get them wrong.

6. Do Step 5 for quotes from other posts.

7. Post.

8. Edit my posting by clicking the edit box. This is also a good opportunity to correct any 'finger trouble' not spotted before.

9. Look at the format of the '[ Q U O T E ]' 'tag' for the quote created at Step 3 (and 4), and mimic it for the other post, i.e. type the name and date in imitating the format. If it's a quote from another thread, I'll try to put it's URL in, ideally pointing to the exact posting.

10. Re-post.

11. Check and re-edit until the result is acceptable to me.

Use Opera or Mozilla Firefox, Open the topics you wish to quote in different tabs. Copy and paste as desired. Do not forget your [ Q U O T E ] and [ / Q U O T E ] around the quoted text.

Alternatively, if you MUST use IE,

Cut & paste your text into Notepad, Wordpad or another text utility.

Put in your [ Q U O T E ] and [ / Q U O T E ], as often as you need them. Type in your own words. Then copy and paste into your reply box.

You can put the text into the reply box directly even using IE.

Put in your [ Q U O T E ]and [ / Q U O T E ], as often as you need them. Type in your own words. Then copy and paste into your reply box.

Typing these 'tags' (or using the 'quote' button while replying) loses the date and author information. Compare the two quotes here. Of course, you can insert that information manually, e.g. [ Q U O T E = p 1 p , W e d 2 0 0 4 - 0 7 - 1 4 , 1 2 : 4 1 : 5 1 ] (spaces mindlessly inserted to avoid conversion) as in:

Even dimwits like stroll recently acquired the skills.

Main thing to remember is to use the 'quote' button at the beginning and the end. It gets a bit tricky when you create a quote within a quote, I need to manually remove or add the / which indicates the finish quote.
