A deeply concerned mother, Ms. Yoshimi Nishi, 66, has approached Khlong Tan Police Station regarding the mysterious disappearance of her son, Mr. Takashiro Nishi, a 39-year-old Japanese national. The distressing situation began four years ago, and since then, Ms. Nishi has anguished over the location and wellbeing of her son.

Mr. Takashiro Nishi last communicated with his mother on June 29, 2020, via the messaging app LINE. In that message, he claimed to be seriously ill and asked for 1 million yen. After receiving the funds, Mr. Takashiro vanished, prompting Ms. Nishi, after numerous futile attempts to contact him, to turn to the Japanese Embassy for assistance.

The embassy reported that Takashiro was previously arrested in Thailand due to embezzlement charges. He fled after being granted bail, leading to an arrest warrant being issued by the Phra Nakhon South District Court. Despite these alarming developments, the matter grew more complex, reported Daily News

On June 9, 2023, Ms. Nishi received an email claiming Mr. Takashiro's health had worsened, prompting her to transfer another 1 million yen. Another email on June 21 demanded an additional 300,000 yen, but Ms. Nishi halted any further transactions, becoming suspicious of the situation.

Investigations revealed Mr. Takashiro entered Thailand via the Nong Khai Immigration checkpoint on March 5, 2020. His last visa extension was done on March 5, 2021, at the Nakhon Sawan Immigration checkpoint, with his permission expiring in 2022. Ms. Nishi filed the formal complaint fearing her son was harmed.

Pol. Col. Witthawat Chinkam, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, stated that the police had yet to coordinate with the Immigration Bureau but assured Ms. Nishi that a full investigation would commence. The process would involve checking bail records, guarantors, and addresses connected to Mr. Takashiro.

The case remains shrouded in uncertainty, with the critical question of Mr. Takashiro’s fate still unanswered. The police have initiated inquiries in Nakhon Sawan to find clues, starting with the last recorded movement of Mr. Takashiro's visa renewal.

As Ms. Nishi awaits further updates, the pressing search for Mr. Takashiro continues, holding onto hope amid the troubling circumstances.

Sounds more like he’s hiding from the law or people he scammed and needs money from his mother. I guess only time will tell and I doubt we’ll hear anything about it.

Japanese Man Who Went Missing Four Years Ago Found Dead in Thailand

A Japanese man who disappeared four years ago was reportedly found dead due to sickness. His body was discovered in Chiang Mai, a province located in Northern Thailand, and currently remains at a local hospital.

The man's mother, 66-year-old Yoshimi Nishi, arrived in Thailand on Monday, August 5, to find her son, Takahiro Nishi. She explained that she last heard from her son in June 2020. Subsequently in 2020, she received an email from an anonymous person stating that her son was ill and required around 240,000 baht (approximately 1 million yen) for medical treatment. A second email asked for an additional 300,000 yen, but Yoshimi grew suspicious of the situation and did not send the money.

Investigation into Takahiro's past unveiled that he and his business partner, Maresuke Takami, had been arrested for embezzlement in 2020. They managed to bail out for 100,000 baht each, and afterward, Takahiro went missing. The pair's bail money was reportedly paid by Maresuke's girlfriend, Chonnakarn Katarat, who was later called for questioning by the police.

Following a five-hour interview, authorities revealed Takahiro's death to Channel 7 news. He died around 10 pm on June 8, 2023, in a house in the Sansai district of Chiang Mai. His body was then moved to the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for autopsy.

Police traced Maresuke to a rented house in Bangkok's Ramintra district and detained him over charges of overstaying his visa. It remains unclear if he and Chonlakarn are still together.

The autopsy report revealed that Takahiro died of a lung infection. His body is currently awaiting contact from his relatives at the hospital. A DNA test will be followed to confirm the identity for the family.

Following the timeline, an email asking for 300,000 baht was received after Takahiro died, hence the police plan to scrutinize the bank account mentioned in the email to find the sender. Additionally, authorities discovered activity on Takahiro's credit card at local hotels and restaurants following his demise.

So, It seems it took them over a year to inform his mother he had died and then that was only because she come to Thailand.  Shocking

Consider the possibility that the dead man did not have note with his mother's address in his pockets.

As another poster said he would have had his passport on him and also the mother is the one who reported him missing in the first place so her contact details would be on the missing report ffs
