Abc’s Muir needs to make a public apology
It's nearly impossible to be equal and is all about perspective. My conservative friends agree with you but at the same time most thought he didn't do well regardless of the moderators. Can't win them all. Sorry, don't get why you are posting a link about losing Biden's primary voters. It is obvious who they will be voting for now. This election has little to do with policies and everything to do with the voters' team winning. Hard to get excited about watching one team insult the other team. Yawn.... -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Gawd - if this ever comes to pass, we will lose several longtime friends of the oil lobby to hyperventilation beyond redlining into an early grave............lol But don't fret for now, happy living goes on for the losers/defenders of the status quo for a couple more years, who knows..... I could imagine some parts of the worlds it is much later, some sooner, so just get ready and pack your bags and live a nomadic life on fossil burning pastures. -

New McCharthyism Sweeping the USA and the World?: What examples have you seen?
McCarthyism has nothing to do with the concept of free speech. Mr. Folau's case was not freedom of speech. His was an imposition of his religious dogma, an interpretation not shared by people of similar religious faith and who have spent much more time reading the original teachings/writings in their original language and not the revisions made over the centuries. It is an easy and a common error to confuse Freedom of Speech and Hate Speech. There has never been an absolute right to say whatever one wants. In the free world, society has set limits on what is considered free speech and what is considered hate speech. More specifically, free speech will not and should not allow anyone to incite hatred or violence against people based upon their race, religion, genetic manifestation, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, disability or national origin. At times, society has erred on the interpretation of what qualifies as hate speech. This is due in part to past to history which has shown that when groups are allowed to manifest their hateful views, injury and violence occurs. We saw this in Bosnia, in Sierra Leone and in Rwanda/Burundi. A case can certainly be made that society is far too tolerant of certain groups activities than others. For example, the UK regularly sees Pakistani and Bengali mobs marching in the streets shouting for the death of jews and the imposition of sharia law. When others, usually "white", march in solidarity of their political views, they are far too quickly attacked and silenced. It is not "wokeism", but an overt and intentional bias. -

Revisiting History: The Unlikely Campaign to Vilify Winston Churchill
No, Russia played a pivotal role. Britain, at best, played an ancillary role. And a very minor one. -

Trump Vows to Make Overtime Pay Tax-Free: ‘Finally Catch a Break’
I call it a lie, because it is a lie. It's not 'what I want'. If you really are interested in a more balanced take on the subject I found this quite easily. Reuters is reputable and I have had dealings with them in the past so I know how they work. (And others, although it's quite clear that most of the 'MSM' whiners and howlers have never been within pitching distance of an actual newsroom and have no idea or clue how they actually work.) https://www.reuters.com/world/us/haitian-immigrants-fueled-springfields-growth-now-us-presidential-debate-2024-09-11/ It's a tale of the ups and downs of a high immigration load. Most of whom are LEGAL! (So there won't be any 'mass deportations à la Eichmann.) Virtually none of whom are engaged in crime according even to the police. And most of whom WANT to work and pay back the chance they've been given to finally live at peace and no longer have to fear inconceivable violence and war. This applies to most migrants by the way. It's a story of chances and opportunities and challenges. There is no hint or mention anywhere by anyone involved of the city being 'devastated'. Utter piffle. It's just a lot easier to kick down on the vulnerable than perhaps face off against those who pay any lower wages in the first place right? I'm sure you agree having just posted how you worked for nothing in the hope of a pat on the head from your bosses. I can look in the mirror and say I've never worked an hour in my life for nothing. And the last one who tried got more than he bargained for because I owned him. I don't need to pick on the weak and vulnerable and spread unfounded rumors and lies, which by their very nature are more numerous and half way around the world before anything resembling the truth even has its boots on. Trump and Vance were still lying about pooch and goose gobblers the last I looked a couple of hours ago. -

Trump: “There Will Be No Third Debate!”
I know what she meant. But she didn't say what she meant. By saying "Donald Trump left us the worst public health epidemic in a century." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/harris-trump-presidential-debate-transcript/story?id=113560542 It's clear she's not talking about Trump dealing with the epidemic. Here she is simply saying Trump left us, ie gave us, the worst epidemic in a century. Of course he did not. He did not leave, pass, give, gift, donate, hand, throw, or kick over any epidemic. He was not the cause of it, it was never his to pass on. I know what she meant, by pure logical deduction, because what she says is not what she could possibly have meant. She does not talk about "dealing" with the pandemic.- 1

Kamala Harris' first solo interview!
Really? So you haven't heard the absolute nonsense Trump regularly comes out with, in response to almost any question? For example, here's his recent response to a question about how he would make child care more affordable. “Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down, and I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that, because, look, child care is child care is. It’s, couldn’t, you know, there’s something, you have to have it. In this country you have to have it.” "But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to — but they’ll get used to it very quickly – and it’s not gonna stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s going to take care." "We’re gonna have — I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care. I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, that I just told you about." And you think Kamala Harris's responses are bad? Trump tried to explain how he plans to make childcare more affordable. It was a word salad -

Trump: “There Will Be No Third Debate!”
I do agree it is a strange policy for a Republican. Just as it is strange for the Democrats not to care about the Deplorables and the poor voters they once supported. It's almost as if political parties are morphing before our very eyes, the same in Europe btw. On tariffs I think Trump actually believes the simple deterrent of making, say Chinese EV cars, twice as expensive, will raise milions for America and reduce the sale of these cars. I do think he detests illegal immigration, since he's always had a bit of a dislike for coloured people, but obviously he does know it's a crowd pleaser. Even Kamala Harris is now Immigration Wyatt Earp.
