Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has urged the Bank of Thailand to halve the withholding tax on commercial banks. Local officials in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district are racing against time to prevent an oil spill from reaching Bang Saray Beach. Yesterday, August 22, residents and tourists noticed oil slicks about 3 to 4 kilometres offshore. The spill, believed to be from a large ship, remains unidentified.
