How to use a SIM Card on Desktop...Obviating the need for a Smartphone?

Recommended Posts

Dear Folks,

I would like to use my desktops instead of using a Smartphone.

I am totally OFF the use of smartphones.

So then....how to do this?

I need to use a SIM card to my Dtac Service to use LINE and WeChat.

But, ordinarily, I never use a smartphone.

Therefore, how to do this?

If possible, I will never buy, ever, another Samsung product.

I will, alternatively, just use my desktops.

And then, should I need to make phone calls, when not at home, then I can just use a VERY CHEAP traditional phone.

How is this done?

Regards,

Tks

Gamma

NOTE: A few days ago....I purchased an A55.  But, I do not like it....compared to my old NOTE4.  So, what I am saying is that.....I do not need a smartphone.....

NOTE2:  Also, I am saying that I do not need to pay premium prices for garbage phones like the A55.

Any ideas?

Because....

Just as I stopped using, once again, Windows OS....

I also want to STOP being on the Samsung smartphone bandwagon......

Note3:  I am tired of buying smartphones....  And, maybe you are....TOO....

Why should we pay so much money just to send and receive simple messages, and make simple phone calls.

Year ago....I could easily make simple phone calls from phones like this....at almost zero cost.... on my PRINCESS PHONE....I loved my PINK Princess Phone.....Sir.....

Most of you young guys are totally brainwashed by companies such as Apple and Samsung into thinking that you need to mortgage your souls, just to make a GD call.

But I remember when....this was not the case.

I rarely need to make a call while I am out and about.

And, in fact, decades ago....

I never did.

Anytime I needed to make a call, I would just use the public phones.....

And they worked quite well..

And...you recall....Marvin Gaye making his call.....

YEah....

This is the way to make a phone call.....Baby.....

I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE....via  AT@T....

Hello....Marvin.....!!!!!!!!

Something FUNKY is going down here on the PHONE....

FUNKY, Franky......!!!!!

Don't Hang Up, Man......

THIS IS THE WAY TO MAKE A CALL......

There must be a way to just use one's desktop, and no need for a Smartphone......right?

MY MAIN CONCERN is to find some way to never again buy a Samsung or Apple phone.

I can do it.

It's become just a matter of principle for me.....NOT money.

Same with Apple and Microsoft....

I have already rid myself of Windows.....

And this is the next step......maybe.....

All I can say is this:

I would rather DIE, other than to visit another Samsung store in Thailand.

And....by extrapolation......

I say....

FU to Samsung...because they are not as helpful to consumers as one might wish.

So....really......

FU to Smartphones....

Need to get OFF them....baby....

Hate them.

Smartphones are just another kind of.....obsession which does no good for our world.

Where do they go when you throw them away....anyway.....which is not my concern.

I just care that Smartphones are about as much good for most people as the LOTTERY....

It's just a tax on the poor....baby.....

AND YOU KNOW IT.....

Smartphones are most popular, it seems, among the dumbest among us.

And, I am not as dumb as you might think.

Gotta rid myself of these vermin smartphones.....

And...

I will.

Someday, we will be free.

MLK

I have a DREAM.....

I have a dream when...someday.....we will be free of smartphones....

Yes you'll be needing a cellular modem unless your pc has a built in 1.

Right.

If so....

Then, presumably.....

One should be able to use LINE and WeChat on the desktop....just as if one were using a phone....

Is this correct?

I have no idea.

Tks.

(Not to mention, of course, that one should be able to use the computer to make calls on Dtac, just as if one were using a phone....right?))

No your not.

YES...

I am.

Believe me.

Note4:  I could explain why. But, I think you might not have the time....  Anyway, suffice to say..... During this past week, I have had such a distasteful experience that....

If I ever hear the name Samsung....I might upchuck, for sure.

Thankfully, there are still the Korean girls which do not totally turn me off...however....  BUT.....  I will never buy another Samsung phone....Also, my FING Samsung refrigerator, the one I liked, is no longer getting cold enough....

And, if you watch these Korean girls....

You will soon tire of them, too....soon enough......

KOREA?

North and South....

All the same to me.

They are one people, after all....

And, you can have them....if you will.

So....Enjoy.....

After a few hours of them....

You NEVER WANT TO SEE THEM.....

Again!

By the way....

The A55 is basically GARBAGE compared to my NOTE4 quality.

After 10 years, one would think that things might have improved.

BUT....

NO!

Therefore....I will revert to a flipphone for roaming outdoors.

But, I will use my desktops for everything else.

Indeed however I'm not sure about drivers. Since you're off windows better be sure the modem you buy will have the linux drivers.

Was it free?

Or, did you need to deposit coins before making a call?

Yes, the LINE desktop app offers full functionality - chat/"text", audio and video.

But you need a mobile smartphone and a SIM/number to register for AND log in to the desktop app.

But you'll need a shopping cart and an extra long extension cord for your desktop to match the phone's "portability, mobility, and flexibility".

Take it you are from the post SKYPE era.

The OP nevere said anything about getting rid of a phone, just looking for alternatives to some smartphone facilities.

I wouldn't disagree with the sentiment I also hate touch screen technology. Unfortunately the digital age is pushing some of us in directions we don't want to go. I have nothing against progress, I was an IT consultant, but we are being held hostage to decisions based on the perception of others.

Indeed,  I got rid of LINE,  anyone I want to talk to I can do so on the PC with Messenger, either as a video call or a phone call.

As you are probably aware, anyone on FB is by default on Messenger which can be used from within FB or as a standalone app.
