 Communities near two rivers in Chiang Mai have been warned to prepare for potential flooding as authorities began releasing excess water from a local reservoir for the first time in 13 years.  

 

110 cubic meters of water per second was discharged yesterday and us due to , conclude by 5 p.m. today. Residents along the riverbanks were advised to remain vigilant.


The outgoing governor of Chiang Rai is facing disciplinary action for repeatedly being absent during flood relief operations in the province. According to Mr. Anutin, the governor, was notably absent when Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and several cabinet members visited Chiang Rai to oversee flood relief efforts on Friday and Saturday.


The Criminal Court sentenced the former chairman of Chulalongkorn University Savings Cooperative, to five years in prison for embezzling over 1.4 billion baht. He was accused of abusing his authority to misappropriate assets for the benefit of a third-party. He was granted bail to appeal.


A car bomb detonated around 10 p.m. last night near the entrance of a District Chief's residence in Narathiwat province. The explosion injured two navy personnel, both 22 years old, who were patrolling the area. Nearby homes and government property also sustained damage.

Nepal, 170 people across the Himalayan republic were confirmed dead following floods after relentless monsoon rains.  experts say climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of monsoon weather conditions at this time of year.
