I have never been able to get travel insurance since being registered as an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic. This also includes medical insurance. Car, home and accident insurances no problem.

I am on a pension, thus also have a govt sponsored insurance company but it did enable me to get an LTR. Only good think about it I guess as in my entire life I personally have been blessed with good health and never filed a charge but my wife was killed by breast cancer/treatment and they paid dearly for that I guess.

October 10, 20241 yr It never fails me the naiveté of folks when it comes to insurance. Health 'insurance' Medicare or whatever you have in your country for older folks in the West isn't insurance it's a State backed guarantee. Real health insurance is like car insurance. Have a couple of claims and watch that annual premium increase. Private health insurance inside Thailand is the same. Raw, real insurance. My wife had a ruptured fallopian cyst which resulted in sepsis, required emergency surgery to save her life. After that rider on our policy to exclude all gyno problems. So travel insurance, same thing and it gets to a point where you just can't get it. My Dad in in the last years of his life just couldn't get travel insurance to visit me in Thailand because of age and pre-existing conditions It's the same thing all aging expats in Thailand face. Age and pre-existing conditions can make any insurance either unaffordable or just impossible to get as the risk for the insurance companies increase Edited October 10, 20241 yr by GinBoy2

Which leaves me covered for nothing !!! In the last year I have been for heart tests ,liver tests ,kidney tests ,body ultrasouns ,chest X rays , bladder tests , prostate tests ,throat scans , colonoscopy etc They found nothing because they are liars !!! I'm a walking time now and yesterday sitting in a cafe in Pattaya I started to get anxiety and felt like a heart pain and then a liver pain and started thinking about the cost of I did have a heart attack or kidney failure or liver failure or my knees give out They write back to tell me I'm covered for anything NOT involving the last 13 months ! Means nothing I will be taking them to court They have blocked my communication because they are thieves and I have emailed them over 50 times to tell them I have asked for my money back Please check your insurance You are NOT covered for heart attack if you have HIGH Blood pressure before taking the insurance unless you got pre existing cover and exemption They accept your $$$ but will refuse if you have a heart attack claiming it was pre existing and was caused by your high blood pressure Hopefully my CT scan calcium scan on Wednesday in BKK will let me know if I need to rush back to Australia for immediate heart surgery . My blood pressure was 135 yesterday Why did you even think your travel insurance would cover this? The word is travel insurance & it is not a health insurance to cover pre existing ailments to be checked up.
