I am sure all the flood victims appreciated a "trunk call"!

Well done Monk and your elephants.

What about the army?

During some extensive flooding about 6-7 years ago in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon, the then prime minister ordered military rescue teams with rescue crafts to travel hundreds of kilometres from Central Thailand to assist in rescue efforts and to help supply food, water and medications to those isolated by flood waters - have there been any reports of similar efforts this year?

Volunteers have a choice and should be lauded.

Elephants in captivity have no choice. They are not Volunteers

One has to think about the motivation behind this exercise....I am concerned it has a large publicity element

Well apparently even Jesus had an ulterior motive for being crucified so we shouldn't judge the monk to severely.

Monk Leads Elephants “Khun Saen” & “Saen Thap” to Deliver Supplies to Flood Victims

How nice.

Monk is the spiritual leader of Buddhists Thais.

And the religious figure makes a good use of ancient transport in the modern day community for the worldly salvation to those in a critical moment.

The perfect Man  & Animal collaboration for good deed.

Wish all the involved return safely.

It's not th monk I'm worried about - it's using the elephants.

Far better to use a 4x4.

Walking through flooded water is very dangerous - there is a lot of grabage and trash in tat water that could cut up the elephants feet and putting those racks on their backs is not a good idea- a pickup could carry at lot more.
