I'm not saying that it was a soulless experience- many were fun to have for a holiday, and they came in useful for translating and looking after the bags while I looked for a hut to stay in, but center of their universe, hardly.

 

I'm somewhat reluctant to state this, but this is clearly something to do with you. I can report that the GFE was still alive and kicking twenty years ago. Though of course, there is always the possibility that they really did like/love me(they certainly told me so and acted like they did) 😊 ....and therein lies the rub. Are you a likeable or even lovable person?

Forced myself to on the odd occasion......seemed a shame not to.
