Adjust E-mail Client Configuration With Truemail

Recommended Posts

Dear All TrueMail users,

Due to the fact that some TrueMail users currently receive and send e-mail through Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express by setting e-mail client for multiple incoming e-mail accounts but single outgoing via TrueMail account. We also found a great number of spam mails have been sent through TrueMail account which is contrary to Conditions and Agreement of using TrueMail service; and it may cause all TrueMail accounts to be blocked by other e-mail service providers.

Accordingly, we are requesting all users to check and correct your e-mail client configuration by setting incoming mail server and outgoing mail server of each e-mail account to the same Internet service provider within 31 August 2007.

As from 1 September 2007, We will suspend our service to any users who have not adjusted such configuration.

We truly appreciate your kind cooperation which helps us maintain the benefits of all TrueMail users. If you need more information for e-mail client configuration, please visit http://www.trueinternet.co.th/truemail/smtp/

Users of any other Internet Service Providers may check the information from your service provider’s website.

Yours Truly

I think the whole pop3 mailing system is a failure, nore and more servers refuse SMTP services or make them extraordinary difficult.

Now your own ISP refuses to send mail. What's next?

POP3/SMTP in gmail. Wouldn't use a Thai ISP for my email at gunpoint anyway.

Sorry Thaising, could not do anything with that Thai scrible link.

Nevertheless, Spam has picked up with me lately using Outlook Express in connection with a paid Yahoo account. It seems that it is an increasing concern not only with me but more and more with other users too. Any experience out there? Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Could somebody please clarify this for me?

We use a 'catch all' forwarding service based on our domain, address: [email protected] but all mail is directed to [email protected]

Does this mean we can no longer send out mail in the name of '[email protected]' using the SMTP of '[email protected]'????

What would True check, the "from" address or the "reply return" address?

Note: We are using Outlook Express

Not sure which True would check, my intuition is that they'd check "from" for sure and probably "reply to/return" also. Not experienced in that area. Whoever is hosting your domain likely has email servers, why not use them instead? I just stay away from ISP email servers in general and foreign ones (mostly because I change ISP's so often here) in particular. I have my own website and use my host's (lunarpages) email servers, but still back up everything at nuclear level at home, on my laptop, and at gmail, if I ever need an emergency backup available on the road with laptop problems. Overkill probably.

Never had a problem sending out mass (5-10k) emails (I use ConstantContact) either.

Works well for me - try this link from them http://www.trueinternet.co.th/truemail/smtp/outlook2003.html

Edit: It seems what they are saying is they are going to a authorised SMTP mail service for their outbound mail only. This is as they say above in their note; to stop outbound spam being posted via their normal smtp server (nothing to do with in bound mail as some mentioned above) and true being blacklisted in places like spamcops

Question to Thaising - what about the old ASIANET users who also use TRUEMAIL since they changed their name as this set up does NOT work for those accounts, so it seems all ASIANET users email will stop on the 31st of August?

Sorry Youbet, I’m not sure about those who have changed to Truemail from Asianet. From my understanding, this new regulation affected only Truemail account.
