Indian Tourists Spark Outrage for Littering into Sea at North Pattaya Beach
Well more outrage is needed when it comes to environmental devastation, and this does not just relate to Thailand. Very few Thais that I've known seem to have been particularly concerned about the environment, the land, the sea nor the air. So the Thais have a few things to learn about this kind of nonsense too. But anytime someone can be shamed over their foul behavior, it's a good thing. -

Thai man reverses amicable divorce after catching wife with another man
He sounds like a rather pathetic and highly emasculated man, who does not have much control over his own life, nor emotions. Things aren't working out so just move on, do you understand any of that? Or is that too complicated a concept for you? -

British woman injured by boat propeller on Similan Islands
It really makes you wonder whether or not these boat captains have ever had any safety training, and how much attention they pay to nearby swimmers and divers. What's really surprising is that this doesn't happen more often considering the incredibly LAX safety standards here. -

WRLife just changed its policy even when you already have insurance !
I don't know the specifics of why this change as of 27 SEP 2024. I will just presume that, under the prior policy wording, there were too many persons claiming for a condition that was already pre-existing at time the policy was initiated but not so declared. -

Police Raid Two Bars in Hua Hin for Underage Prostitution, Owners Arrested
In a major crackdown on human trafficking, police from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division raided two bars in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, on charges of covertly offering underage prostitution services to foreign tourists. The bars were targeted following an extensive investigation based on intelligence reports that indicated illegal activities were taking place behind the facade of normal bar operations. The raid, which occurred earlier this week, uncovered the involvement of two bars in a scheme to exploit underage persons for sexual services. Foreign tourists were reportedly charged a “bar fine” to take minors out of the premises. During the inspection, three individuals, all under 18 years of age, were found at the scene. The individuals were immediately rescued and are now under the protection of authorities, who are ensuring their care and safety according to Thai law. Police arrested the owners of the two bars, both female Thai nationals aged 50 and 53, whom now face severe human trafficking charges. If convicted, they could face long prison sentences, as there are strict laws against human trafficking, especially involving minors. A police spokesperson for the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division commented on the case, saying, “The protection of vulnerable minors is our utmost priority, and we will continue to aggressively pursue anyone involved in such heinous crimes. This operation was a key success in our ongoing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks that prey on minors.” The victims have been placed in the care of social services and will receive both medical and psychological support. Authorities are also investigating whether more minors may have been involved and if there are links to a larger trafficking ring. Local officials have promised that they will not tolerate any illegal activity that endangers minors, and have pledged to intensify investigations into other potential trafficking operations in the region. iCon Group Execs Still Stressed, No Smiles: Department of Corrections
File photo The Department of Corrections has reported that executives from "The iCon Group," currently detained, remain visibly stressed, showing no signs of smiling. The Criminal Court previously denied bail for all 18 company executives, including three actors, who face charges of public fraud and submitting false or misleading information into a computer system. On 18 October, the Department of Corrections confirmed that the detainees had undergone medical and mental health checks. Those with pre-existing conditions have been permitted to continue using prescribed medications. The detainees are currently in a five-day quarantine to prevent the spread of respiratory infections. The final detainee, Mr. Ratthapol Voratayavarakul, also known as Boss Paul, has now been taken into custody at Bangkok Remand Prison. All 18 detainees can communicate with their lawyers and investigators online. Family visits will be allowed after the quarantine period if no infections are detected. The detainees are under close supervision and have been observed to be stressed, with less frequent communication, which is typical when adjusting to a new environment. Male detainees are required to have their hair trimmed short, while female detainees may keep their hair long but must tie it neatly. After quarantine, they will be assigned to respective holding areas until further court decisions are made, reported Daily News. -- 2024-10-19
