A 44-year-old insurance agent was discovered dead inside her vehicle on Nontree 32 Alley, Rama 3, Bangkok on the morning of October 19, leading to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

 

At approximately 09:30 Lieutenant Narathapong Ajarasing, deputy investigator at Bang Phong Pang Police Station, received a report about an unconscious woman in a parked car. Emergency services, including personnel from Chulalongkorn Hospital and the Po Tek Tung Foundation, were dispatched to the scene.

 

 

Upon arrival, authorities found a two-door, bronze Nissan pickup truck registered in Ubon Ratchathani. Inside, they discovered the body of Ms. Orathai Suwanphrom, reclining in the driver’s seat, with a charcoal stove in the back of the vehicle, with burnt coals indicating it had recently been used. There were no visible signs of injury or struggle on Ms. Suwanphrom’s body.

 

Nearby, her boyfriend, 40-year-old Mr. Sutthas Thirasak, was found distraught and crying. He recounted how neighbours had alerted him to the situation after noticing the car’s key left in the ignition. Upon checking, he found Ms. Suwanphrom unresponsive and immediately called the police.

 

Mr. Sutthas mentioned that the couple had argued the previous night over financial issues, including Ms. Suwanphrom’s debts of approximately 100,000 baht from illegal loans. He expressed uncertainty about the exact cause of her death, stating that he was unaware of her specific financial struggles until the tragic incident occurred.

 

A friend of the deceased, 55-year-old Ms. Lamduan Fangpong, revealed that she had seen the car’s key left in the ignition earlier in the morning and had gone to fetch Mr. Sutthas. Together, they discovered Ms. Suwanphrom, who appeared to be peacefully asleep.

 

Ms. Lamduan recalled that Ms. Suwanphrom had often voiced concerns about her financial situation, to which she had tried to offer words of comfort. 

 

The police are currently interviewing witnesses and have sent the body to Chulalongkorn Hospital’s forensic unit for a detailed autopsy to determine the cause of death.
