A violent altercation between two Myanmar workers at a labour camp in the Phraeksa Mai subdistrict of Mueang Samut Prakan District ended in a serious stabbing incident on the  night of October 26. The incident occurred around 20:50,at a two-story workers’ camp where authorities found Mr. Nay Aung, 35, injured and awaiting medical assistance on the second-floor balcony outside his room.

Emergency responders treated Mr. Nay Aung, who suffered three stab wounds: one on his left side, another below his left ribcage, which had exposed parts of his intestines and a third on his left elbow. He was quickly transported to Samut Prakan Hospital for further care.

Nearby, police discovered blood-stained items at the scene, including a broken-handled kitchen knife approximately 20 centimetres long, a basket of toiletries, and a sarong, all lying on the staircase landing.

The attacker, identified as Mr. Nan Aung, 48, also a Myanmar national, was detained by police. He does not speak Thai and remains in custody as investigations continue. Witness accounts suggest the two men, who both work at the same location, had a history of personal animosity. According to Mr. Chumphon, 36, a downstairs resident, the men were intoxicated but had not been drinking together. Efforts to separate them were unsuccessful before the situation escalated.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, seeking to understand the root of the dispute that led to the stabbing.
