A dramatic arrest unfolded in Bangkok's Ratchathewi district as police detained a former Russian mercenary identified only as Milo. The apprehension took place on Monday when Thai immigration authorities raided his condominium room, seizing 110 rounds of ammunition and a firearm magazine. The 25-year-old, whose full identity was later revealed as Milo Yanovich, now faces charges of illegal possession of weapons.

The incident originated from a complaint lodged by an unnamed individual who claimed Yanovich had sent threatening messages, including images of firearms, and vowed to eliminate his alleged rivals. Prompted by this report, immigration officials traced Yanovich's location, acquiring a search warrant to inspect his living quarters. Their search unveiled a hidden stash of ammunition, further intensifying the gravity of the accusations against him.

During police questioning, Yanovich admitted to having a past as a Russian mercenary but denied ownership of the seized items, attributing them instead to a Thai acquaintance whose name he conveniently forgot. Despite his defence, Yanovich remains in custody, his case now transitioned to the Din Daeng police for further legal proceedings.

This arrest raises questions about the presence and activities of foreign mercenaries in Thailand, a topic that is likely to draw attention amid ongoing security concerns in the region.

A former mercenary trying to stay in Thailand selling ammo that a mercenary might have access. What' the question? Thailand is awashed with illegal firearms and munitions, I'd say especially with its many retired (convicted?) Thai Military and police for which there seems little accountability of their pre-post possession and access to weapons. Consider also the general Thai experience with a decades insurgency running in the South, current civil war in Mynamar and Thailand's propensity for military coups.

Is he one of Phipat's finest ... welcoming Russians to bolster the tourism industry

send him to fight in ukraine? 25 years mercenary? you mean deserter maybe?

He won’t be sending photos of illegal stuff to threaten rivals anymore.

I swell with pride seeing the OP image of Five Just Men.....😋

🤔

Ammunition cache?  110 rounds?   🤣😅😂

Doesn't sound Russian. Maybe serbian or whoever from Yugoslavia.

110 rounds? Laughable

Merc.? We all mercs for sure. Sure-sure

Yes, Thailand is a hub of recruitment "soldiers of fortune": very convenient and inexpensive.

better send him to any NATO country, as the russians constantly say they are fighting against NATO, not Ukraine

It was not his real name. This is what russians state about him.
Russian "mercenary" arrested in Thailand.
A 25-year-old Russian has been arrested in Bangkok for threats of violence and illegal possession of ammunition. The criminal was introduced by  Immigration to the press as Milo Janovich with a note that this is not his real name. During a search of his apartment, police officers found more than 100 rounds of ammunition of various calibers (380 mm, 45 mm, 9 mm) and a pistol magazine.
According to a press release from the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, a complaint was filed against the Russian by a person who allegedly received threats of physical violence from him. Screenshots of correspondence were presented at the conference, in which Milo Janovich makes threats against an Israeli citizen.
"Get ready, dirty dogs. I will shoot you all to the last one, until I am killed, I will pour pig's blood on you all," is one of the threatening phrases of the man. In addition, in his messages he emphasizes the Jewish origin of those to whom his threats are addressed. During interrogation, the Russian told investigators that he worked as a "mercenary" in Russia. According to him, the ammunition found belonged to his friend. The police did not specify how long the Russian had been in Thailand or for what purpose he had arrived in the country.

Yes, I find that amusing too.

I have, roughly, 10,000 rounds of .22lr.   Too much impulse buying at Walmart!

That's just that ammo.

I'm not gonna try and count.  I moved a few years back and the movers had me pile the ammo on a pallet.  They moved it with a forklift and almost dropped it putting it on the truck.  All I could envision was the sight of 1000s of rounds of ammo rolling down the street.  Soccer moms would have had fits.  🤣

That box in the middle is one that I am not familiar with.  At first I thought it from WWII or Korean war, then I looked at the one I have and it is definitely different.   The WWII ammo box I have opens from the side and is hinged on the side.   It has about 200 rounds of  WCC AN-M2 ball in it.

And remember I wrote, "That's just that ammo. " Still I think you have more than I do.   Probably too much.    I can take some of it off your hands if you want.   I will give you $20.00 a box.   I think that is a fair offer (fair for me at least).   😁  And that Wolf stuff, you know how those will stick in the chamber ...  😁

Smart move. Ammunition shortage incoming.

When I moved over to Thailand I sold a bunch of ammunition for three times what I paid for it.

If you mean the green wooden crate it is Swiss 223/556.  I bought it with my AUG.  Flawless.  If I decide to "downsize" which is a very real possibility in the near future it will be kept as well as the AUG.  And the Garand.  And the FN-FAL.  With enough ammo to fend off a horde of brain eating zombies.  Though I think I'd be a disappointing meal for them.

BTW that Wolf stuff shoots.  No issues in an AR15.  Not terribly accurate but it goes bang every time and no jams yet.  I'll get back to you on the $20 a box.  Seems fair.  🤣

I meant the steel ammo can with the rectangular strengthening embossed into the end.

OH,  I miss wrote what I meant, ammo can (steel ones) not something like a 20 round box.  I'll give you $20.00 per ammo can filled with ammo! Any kind/caliber of ammo!....  🤑

I'd have to go look but I  think it is military surplus nato 7.69/.308 ammo for an FN-FAL.   Who knows.  heck come take it all $20.  Per box.  Of 20.  But that means ALL of it and there is also a lot of .22 ammo around here somewhere.  😃
