August 6, 200718 yr Hi I hope sbdy can help me with visa advice for my dad. All UK passport holders: I currently have a non-Imm O as my husband works in Thailand. Due to the number of foreigners in the company we have to leave and re-enter every 3 months (at least until the first year is up). I'm nearly 7 months pregnant and I'm hoping that the hospital can help me skip the next 2 visa runs... Anyway, I'd like my dad to come visit me for let's say 3.5 months. I plan to get a multiple-entry 6 month tourist visa. He's pretty frail though. I have help getting him across and back to the UK but I don't think he can do a 60-day/90-day run by himself in between. Questions: 1) If I get him a tourist visa, we can get a visa extension for 30 days. I've read that a further extension may also be given after that for another 10 days. Can anyone confirm this? 2) Or has anyone done a v. easy border run such as cheap flight to Singapore, hang around the airport and wait for return flight to Thailand soon after? 3) Or is he eligible to stay on as my dependent (even though I myself have a dependent's visa which 'runs out' every 3 months?) thanks for any help on this matter and sorry for the long winded post.
August 6, 200718 yr 1. The most you can receive after the normal 30 days would be 7 days. 2. Yes an air trip and return could be done and has been done. 3. To be eligible for yearly extension of stay as a dependent the sponsor has to have a yearly extension of stay (as you have found out).
August 6, 200718 yr Apply by mail for a single entry Non-Immigrant O class visa at the Royal Thai Consulate at Hull based on a family visit. That visa enables a stay of up to 90 days.
August 7, 200718 yr Author Hi many thanks for the replies - v. helpful indeed. I'm going to make some inquiries with Hull - is there any particular reason why it should be Hull and not London? Are they 'easier' than London?
