A drug-addicted Thai man in the central province of Lopburi confessed to adding pesticide to a milk bottle which resulted in the death of his four month old daughter.

The 45 year old man, Suriya Thippaha, took his son-in-law, 39 year old Chatmongkhon Chaiyatha, to Lamsonthi Police Station in Lopburi province, accusing him of killing his four month old granddaughter with pesticide.

Chatmongkhon’s wife, 27 year old Sukanyarat, was also present at the police station. She explained that Chatmongkhon took their daughter from their home and told her not to follow him. Their 10 year old son also accompanied the man and child.

Sukanyarat later searched for Chatmongkhon and her children, eventually finding them at a small hut 500 metres from their home. She hurriedly took her daughter back, noticing the baby exhibiting unusual symptoms. Concerned, she took her daughter to the hospital, where the child later died.

Suriya said he discovered a bottle of drugs in the hut and suspected Chatmongkhon of killing his daughter. The 10 year old boy reportedly told Suriya that he witnessed his father putting a mysterious substance from the bottle into the milk bottle.

Chatmongkhon initially denied the accusation, claiming he intended to commit suicide using the pesticide in the white bottle. He said he accidentally spilt some of the substance on the ground and cleaned it up.

Chatmongkhon speculated that the toxic residue left on his hands might have transferred to the milk bottle’s teat, indirectly causing his daughter’s death when she drank from it.

Police were unconvinced by Chatmongkhon’s account and continued questioning him until he eventually confessed to the murder. He admitted to adding pesticide to his daughter’s milk bottle while under the influence of drugs.

A drug test confirmed that he was positive for drugs. Officers searched the couple’s home and discovered an illegal gun in his possession.

Immediate execution would be appropriate. No appeals. Just remove this vermin from the face of the earth, quickly.
