Good morning, bike enthusiasts.

My bike is kitted out with a pretty decent alarm system. Unfortunately, the remote control fell off the key fob while I was riding. I have a spare—of sorts—but it's missing the battery door. I can hold the battery in with tape, but the other issue with the spare is that you have to be right on top of the bike to activate and deactivate the alarm.

WOT, NO BRAND?

Well, I can't find a brand name anywhere on the system. So, my question is this: does anyone have experience with universal remote controls for motorcycle alarms, or will I simply have to replace the existing setup with a brand new one?

Thanks, in advance.

Maybe take a photo of the controller

and do a google-image search.

Thanks, papa al. I already did that. I found some systems with similar-shaped remotes, but they weren't the same product.

This is mine, a no-name system, but despite being anonymous, it was working great, and even included luggage alarms.

Hi. I sympathize with your situation. In addition to getting a "universal remote control" as you said, the following methods may also work, for reference only.

1. Search Google images and find the manufacturer of this remote control to negotiate and see if they can give you a new one. You may need to provide the code/serial number of the current machine. This is the easiest and has quality assurance.

2. Use a 3D printing service to print a back cover. However, you need to have the 3D file of this back cover. If your iPhone has a radar function, you can use some APPs (CANVAS, 3D SCANNER APP, METASCAN) to model it yourself, and then send it to some sellers on Lazada to ask them to complete it for you and print a back cover. This may be the solution that looks closest to the original remote control.

3. Use electrical tape, the black kind, which is the cheapest. not that good, and it will works for a short time.

4. Carve one out of bamboo or wood, and be careful not to scratch your hands.

Thanks, Jack. The first thing I did was search Google images, but to no avail. The battery stays in fine with black tape, but the sensitivity of the spare remote is so poor that you almost have to touch the bike to work the alarm. The original could be activated/deactivated from inside the house with all the doors and windows shut.

I've given up on it, and will replace the system with another at some point ;)
