Bangkok Bank App Problem.

Featured Replies

Hi there, A few weeks ago I went to my visa agent and he told me I need to get a Bangkok Bank App on my phone, so as to prevent a 4-5 hour wait on the day that I apply for my one year visa. This was new to me as I've made 10 one year visas with the same agent and nothing like this has happened before. Anyhow I went to the Bangkok Bank today did all the paper work and now I can open my Bangkok Bank account on my laptop. The lady at the bank tried several times to activate the app on my phone but it doesn't work. She told me that maybe my phone is to old, the phone was a top of the range Android at the time of purchase and would be around 8 years old now. Besides this problem it works perfectly. Any suggestions besides buying a new phone for just one app.  Thanks

New phone is only way. Reason being is the bank apps need probably Android 11/12 at a minimum because of their security software.  A phone of 8 years old will probably not meet the requirements.

The website access has no such requirement...just internet and browser.

It might be that the app is locking you out for security reasons. Please do the following:

Go to "settings"--> "accessibility"--> "installed apps", and make sure all the listed apps are turned off.

I had problem with the K-Bank app. Sometimes it didn't work. I called their support and they told me I should switch off WLAN on my phone and use the internet connection from my phone company (in my case DTAC). I did that and it worked fine.

Later I tried again with WLAN enabled. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Until now it always worked when I used my phone internet connection.

Maybe try that.

It might be to old!

I understand you have a android .

I use IPhones and the Bkk Bank requires 13ios or above.

“To enhance transaction security and application efficiency as well as support new features, upcoming Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking versions will only be supported on iOS version 13.0 & above and Android version 8.0 & above from March 21, 2024 onwards”.

I haven't got a problem buying a new phone but what gets me is that I only use the Bangkok Bank app once every year when renewing my one year visa with my agent. So it appears under the new rules when applying for a new one year visa you either buy a new phone and install the app. Or you wait for 4-5 hours in the Bangkok Bank where the agent takes me. PS : my current phone has worked perfectly on everything else since I bought it. I never use online banking by phone as I always do my banking on my laptop.

Why do you need an app to do your one year extension?

I use BKK and go in one week early to order the Annual statement and on extension day I get a weekly statement, the letter and the passbook updated.

A simpler solution is use a different agent, if in Pattaya try Mannerat Soi Post Office 13/2
