Using an Apple magic keyboard (Japanese issue) with Windows 11?

Long shot here but give it a whirl. I bought an apple magic keyboard (Japanese / English) off marketplace for my Ipad. Works a treat. As a bonus I was hoping to use it with my PC but many of the shift / symbol keys in different areas to whats shown on the keyboard. Mainly symbols above the numbers (+, ( , ) ,* etc etc. When I connect to the Ipad it actually asks if I want to use it in Japanese or English layout. Selecting English works perfectly. Just wondering if someone knows of a setting or something I can change on the PC to make it recognize the keyboard correctly.

 

Yes its Japanese English, yes I am an idiot, yes buyer beware, pay peanuts get monkeys etc etc. No motherly advice please, just someone that may have a solution thanks  🙂

It’s rather strange to ask windows questions on a dedicated Apple products forum.

Better to ask in a different forum as you are likely to have more information available.

Well it is an Apple Keyboard albeit using with a Windows PC and the forum is Apple products. One each way bet really and you know good old Asean Now, someone will be along to tell you you are in the wrong forum no matter where you post 🙂 I will give it another day here, cancel the post and try the general computer area. I doubt I will get an answer anyway really....strange question generally

There exists a system of changing keyboard mapping in windows, (I may have known how 25 years ago) that you happen to be using an Apple keyboard is of virtually no interest to the windows system. Within the MacOS keyboard remapping is a trivial exercise and is done on the fly as are virtually all language changes since they are virtually all integrated into the core OS.

 

Windows is not remotely as versatile and requires a complete system install for many language options.

 

You will have a better chance of finding a widows tech who can easily tell you how if you first do not add information of the origin of the keyboard (it’s irrelevant) and second ask in a computer software oriented forum. Asiannow is a rather poor choice as the numbers of subject matter experts is extremely small.

 

There are many forums with vastly more users who can answer your questions, though not the best as it’s not specialised, Reddit, if you can find which subreddit to post in, will probably give an almost instant answer.
