Talk to the AIS call center. A work permit is not an absolute requirement for a post paid SIM I don’t have a work permit and have both a prepaid AIS number and a prepaid AI number.

Go into one of the bigger AIS stores. Take your passport with long term visa and proof of address such as rental contract or utility bills in your name. AIS gave both me and my GF postpaid plans and we are on 1 year retirement extensions.
