Dubai's Dark Side: The Strict Rules That Could Land Tourists in Jail
It's up to the individual to be responsible for their own actions and research the laws in a place that is ruled by a different, not nanny state, system. I can't be sympathetic to those that behave like boors wherever they are, with no regard to local mores. In the UAE, one has to be careful, as what is permitted in one emirate may not be in the next one, and there is no indication of where the borders are. I don't know why the title references "the Dark Side". It's their country, their rules. -

Teenager Killed in Motorbike Accident After Leaving Part-Time Job, Chachoengsao
Picture from responders. A 16-year-old boy was killed in a motorcycle crash after colliding with a parked 10-wheeler truck in Chachoengsao Province early morning on December 15. The crash occurred at approximately 05:00, near Wat Wang U, Moo 5, Laem Pradu Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, at kilometre marker 10+600. Police from Ban Pho Police Station, led by Pol. Capt. Theep Mailuekdee, and rescue workers responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered a white Isuzu 10-wheeler truck with a flat left front tyre parked by the roadside. The truck was driven by Mr. Phongsak 40. Underneath the rear of the truck was a white Honda PCX motorcycle bearing Chachoengsao license plates. Tragically, the body of Mr. Kittiwat 16, was found nearby, lying face down next to the vehicle. Ms. Warinya 19, who was riding her motorcycle about 50 metres behind Kittiwat at the time of the crash, recounted the events. She stated that they had spent the evening at a friend’s house nearby. Around 04:45 Kittiwat decided to leave for home on his motorcycle, while she followed at a distance. When she reached the scene, she found that Kittiwat’s motorcycle had collided with the rear of the parked truck. She immediately contacted his relatives and emergency responders. Friends described Kittiwat as a diligent young man who worked part-time on weekends to support himself. On the night of the crash, he had finished his shift at around 23:00 and had gone to visit friends since the factory where he worked was closed the following day. Tragically, he never made it home. Preliminary inspections revealed that Kittiwat suffered multiple fractures across his body, likely caused by the high-speed impact with the truck. Authorities suspect that he may have been riding at excessive speed when the collision occurred. The victim’s body has been transported to Ban Pho Hospital for a detailed autopsy, and police are continuing their investigation into the incident. -- 2024-12-16 -

Thai-British Beauty Queen Duped Out of 4M Baht, Suspect Arrested
All it does for me is to shine a spotlight on the increasing stupidity of the victims. At what point does an enormous red flag not get raised, causing you to figure something looks just a little sus? Illegal entry into Cambodia? Opening a mule account? Forcing you to transfer millions? Are these every day activities?- 1

Swiss Tourist Attacked by Local Youths in Pattaya
Picture courtesy: Daily News A 66-year-old Swiss man endured a vicious attack by local youths in Pattaya, leaving him injured and his car severely damaged. On the night of 15th December, Manoutcher Kamel Kamai, a Swiss national, reported the disturbing incident to the Pattaya City Police. With visible injuries, including facial swelling and cuts, Mr Kamai drove to the police station in tears seeking justice. According to his statement, relayed through a translation app, the trouble started when he parked his Toyota Velos SUV on South Pattaya Road after dining nearby. Upon returning to his vehicle, he encountered a group of 4 to 6 teenagers surrounding his car. The youths began smashing the car's windows with rocks. When Mr Kamai attempted to intervene, two of the assailants turned on him, kicking and punching him to the ground. Despite his pleas for mercy, the assault continued until a passerby intervened, prompting the gang to flee. The police, having received Mr Kamai's detailed account, immediately broadcasted alerts to capture the suspects. Meanwhile, investigative teams have been dispatched to review CCTV footage and gather more evidence to track down the perpetrators for further legal action, reported Daily News. -- 2024-12-16
