A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed, and four of his friends were injured, in a violent attack by a group of youths in Bangkok's Bangkok Noi district early on New Year's Day. Police used CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.

At 01:15, Police Lieutenant Warathon Imwittaya, an investigator with Bang Yi Khan Police Station, received a report of a fatal stabbing at an unnamed apartment in Soi Wat Pathom Buttisaram, off Charansanitwong Soi 45/7. He was joined at the scene by Police Colonel Payap Somboon, forensic officers, medics from Siriraj Hospital, and the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

The four-storey apartment's fire escape staircase was the location of the body, identified as Kaonaphat, aged 17. He was found lying in a pool of blood and his body bore three stab wounds: one to the chest and two to the upper right arm. Bloodstains were observed from the building entrance to the victim's location.

At the apartment's entrance, two motorbikes were found with collision damage. One was a red Honda Wave 110 with a broken front fender, and the other a white Honda Wave 125. Neither had a licence plate. Bloodstains and one of the victim's shoes were also found nearby.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim and his friends were riding on four motorbikes when another group of youths pursued them and began attacking. The group scattered, with some seeking refuge in the apartment. The victim collapsed on the staircase, while four of his friends sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

Police reviewed CCTV footage from the area and awaiting statements from the injured individuals to determine whether the group had prior conflicts with the attackers.

Authorities have identified two of the attackers and arrested them, as the efforts to apprehend the others responsible continues.
