A fire broke out in a four-storey commercial building in Phra Khanong district, Bangkok, causing significant damage to the top floor but resulting in no injuries or fatalities.

The incident occurred at approximately 13:25 on January 15, at S.Udomsuk Kolakarn, an auto parts store located between Sukhumvit Soi 62 and Soi 62/1 on Sukhumvit Road, Phra Khanong Tai sub-district, Phra Khanong district.

Firefighters from Phra Khanong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene within four minutes of receiving the call, to find flames engulfing the fourth floor of the building, which housed a storage room for automotive parts. The fire destroyed the entire floor and the roof collapsed.

Fire crews successfully contained and extinguished the blaze using internal hose-lines and a aerial firefighting appliance, preventing it from spreading to adjacent units in the three-unit commercial block.

Initial investigations of the cause of the fire remains undetermined due to the extensive damage sustained on the fourth floor, but authorities are conducting further inquiries to establish the cause of the incident.

I bet there's no annual fire inspections like in the US....

All firefighters get my respect for going into fires such as this on an upper floor.  They never know when a floor might give away and send them flying.  I'm from a city where 9 firefighters died because  an illegal renovation of an old hotel led to a sudden collapse of interior floors left unsupported.
