Escape to the south? Forget it.

A bit better but far from healthy/normal.

First green spot is in Malaysia.

What a goon. Such insincerity. Crack down on the refiners who accept burnt sugar. No? They are too rich, and they are all your friends? Exposed again with your callous lies?    Real men act.

A day late and dollar short.....

  • It would take much regulation, enforcement, and billions of dollars to fix this issue.  Bottom line it will never happen ever, just get worse.

Now up to 222 here next to Bangkok Immigration, nice time to go for a jog in the fresh air, thank you Anutin!

The village head about 30 minutes ago had another public meeting and it was crazy tense.  I guess a villager last night decided to make charcoal on the edges of the village.  Villagers were knocking on the head man's door last night and he went off this morning at a public meeting.

The offender shows up screaming and revving his motorbike.  Almost went to blows and I wouldn't mess with our village head. He is definitely capable of extreme violence and have strong feeling it isn't going to end well for the charcoal dude.  At this point he is too high on on charcoal fumes and ganja to realize but bad things are coming his way.

Too late.

Almost impossible to find a green spot this morning.

Another poster wrote about Ko Samui at about AQI 130.

Explain that with agricultural and waste burning?

This genius minister avoids to name one of the biggest problems in pollution by vehicles with poor exhaust standards. For Bangkok and other areas the use of coal power stations and lot of industry adds up.

Cambodia is on fire, partly thanks to Mitr Phol the Thaib sugar giant, and the smoke travels over de Gulf.

I remember the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine spreading nuclear waste as far as Scotland. We were not alliwed to eat vegetables at the time (yeah !).

The Cabinet has decided against declaring disaster zones in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, citing concerns over potential impact on tourism

The Cabinet clarified at a House meeting on Thursday that it could not declare PM2.5 disaster zones in Chiang Mai and Bangkok at this time due to concerns about potential impacts on tourism.

In reply, Nattapol said that while the government recognised the severity of the issue, declaring disaster zones was a sensitive matter as it could harm tourism and the country’s reputation.

He added that such a declaration will be made when necessary, but stressed the importance of careful consideration.

In other words "do nothing!!"

😂😂😂😂😂😂 phony

The AQI here near the Bangkok Immigration office is now at 228, highest it's been yet this year, and it's the weekend (No school, less traffic). I think his order has been ignored, now what? Enforcement? Yeah, right.

Hard to accept that anyone can be this stupid.....or maybe he isn't, and he's just playing the politician's role of...."I told them to do this, so my job is done"

The burning here is extensive.....but it is roadside burning by the authorities themselves......sugarcane burning has yet to start in earnest...these hills will eventually disappear from view by early Feb.
