I stated that to move from Retirement extensions to DTV and leave once for a few days every six months is a very simple task

And I stated that simple task is not so simple for the elderly with mobility issues.

Furthermore, I have four houses, bought and paid for in Thailand,

"Bought and paid for" but you don't own the land they sit on.  Not very wise, and hardly something to brag about.

You seem to be under the misguided illusion that I put myself in a jam packed minibus doing border runs.

No, but crossing a border is crossing a border.  It means you leave Thailand, does it not?

So, you need to get out of your 5,000 baht rental room with your squat toilet and free Wi Fi and get out into the sunshine.

I rent a nice condo in Pattaya with water views and fast internet, and the balcony gets plenty of sunshine.

'Bought and paid for'.

And that is for my Thai partner of 28 years, I had no intention of sticking the land on and aeroplane and flying the soil to the UK, it was always for my Thai partner.

Obviously, financially, you and I, move in different circles.

You rent a nice condo overlooking water?

Your property in Pattaya with ' water views ' do you mean it's overlooking the public toilets?

Well, I don't rent, never have, I have had properties I rented out.

Everything in Thailand and the houses in the UK is paid for,' LOCK, STOCK AND BARREL.'

Lastly, ' crossing a border '  I love getting out of Thailand once or three times a year, taking a break and enjoying other countries.

You live in gorgeous Pattaya?

Are you frightened that number 18 dancing, or the fat fifty-year-old bird you've been chasing, that told you she is a ' cashier '  is going to get another punter if you have to do a visa run, and be missing for four days?

Hardly.

It's the retirement visa, with extensions, which means one NEVER has to leave Thailand, that makes Thailand a popular retirement destination.

It's not that elderly expats can't afford to cross a border, it's that eventually many become incapable of doing so due to mobility and other health issues.

You do have a vivid imagination.

I'm sure your kids are impressed with how your wealth, thus their inheritance, has been redistributed to your Thai wife's family.

You OWN property "lock, stock and barrel" in the UK, but you certainly do not in Thailand, but that's for another thread.

As for moving in different financial circles, I'm not sure what you mean about that.  I rent by choice.  I use an agent for my extension by choice.  I would never invest in an unstable 3rd World Country.  Maybe we move in different intellectual circles.  :cheesy:

Well, Pattaya Bay has been called a toilet, but it's still a nice sunset, and the nightlife and hospitality venues are great.

I'm single, by choice.  I didn't come to Thailand to adopt an extended Thai family, like you did.  I leave once a year for the Singapore F1, and for important family events back home.  I am in good health, so international travel is no problem for me.

Now, back to this tax issue, can you tell us all another 'Somchai TRD Office story?"  They are humorous.

Mad as a wasp! 😆

Everything I do and have, relating to my Thai family of a ridiculous amount of years and as a thank you to the loyalty of my Thai other half, the houses were as a ' Thank you '

Everything I own in the UK is bought and paid for. My sons houses, bought and paid for. NO banks .

I have two sons, (one of them in Australia working for two years) who both have good careers and decent money.

So, You can blab on about tax threads all you want. I will not change my way of how I view it.

So, my Aussie friend, we all do things differently to suit our individual lifestyles.

'I use an agent", 'I rent' by choice,, doesn't cut it with me as a long term businessman.

More of an opinionated sex pat who loves Pattaya.

Anyway, live long and prosper.

I'd like to see your ' flat ' with water views .post a picture!😆

This goes to the very heart of the debate.

You want to view it your own way, and do it differently, to suit your lifestyle, but you ignore the fact that this tax policy is similar to the immigration laws here that we take seriously and strictly abide by.

The Thai legal way is the way to "view" it, and Thai law does not cater for your views, or the different way you want to do it, or your lifestyle.    Get it?

You've been in Thailand 28 years.  Business has changed a lot in those years.  :cheesy:

Well, have haven't sunk my money into Thailand, so, yes, a safe, risk free and stress free retirement for me, and at any point Thailand causes me grief, I can move next door. I have no financial ties or emotional ties here.  As I have said in the past, I show Thailand the same loyalty it shows me, zero.

More like, what you will not be doing, because Somchai at the TRD Office pushed you out the door so he could go on his lunch break, and you took it gospel. :cheesy:

Then, you post on here about how you will do your Frank Sinatra impersonation in reltaion to this tax policy, "I did it my way."   :cheesy:

I used my Architects from Pattaya, I bought the materials through my company and we employed local labour.

I've been with her 28 years, and still am, so what are you talking about?

She probably speaks English better than you do.

Got me around her finger, I think not, I control the expenses.

Do you not think it's right and proper to look after a partner after such a length of time?

That says far more about you, than it does about me.

They are not all ' whores ' but you wouldn't know, being in Pattaya playing connect four!

Well, I don't know, but it's something I can now forget about for 5 years.
