I have my UK Gov. pension and private pensions paid directly to my Wise account in the UK.  Until this year the money from all pensions would be deposited in my Wise account a few minutes before, or after, 8.30am on the due dates.

My private pensions continue to be received at this time while, in January and February 2025 the money from UK gov. pension has failed to be deposited until several hours later in the day.

I contacted UK work and pensions, by phone, when the payment did not arrive on time in January as usual.   They assured me that they have changed nothing regarding the payment system and that the payments are prepared around 10 days prior to the due date for deposit.

Have any other UK government pension recipients, on the forum, had any similar issues with later arrival of UK pension payments, direct to Wise, since the start of the new year 2025?

Thanks,

Prem

I have 3 pensions paid into Wise and they are all deposited at around 9:30am UK time. (currently 15:30 ICT)

If they were to be paid into my UK bank account they would normally be deposited shortly after midnight, so payments destined for Wise obviously follow a different payment route which doesn't begin to operate until the start of the working day.

It has always been thus for as long as I've been using Wise.

Thank you for the reply Moolover.  Until the start of this year, 2025, I have always received both private pension and UK gov pension a few minutes before or after 8.30am UK time. So far this year I have received my January private pensions as normal but both January and February UK gov pensions have been delayed by a few hours.  In January the UK gov pension turned up around 11.40am UK time and February payment finally arrived in Wise at 10.25am UK time.

I do not think there is a major issue and waiting a couple of hours for the money to be available is not a 'game changer' but it just seems strange that it only affects UK gov pension and only started to happen at the start of this year.

Not sure if it is a factor but DWP pension payments are processed through Citibank.

It is most likely that your occupational pensions are paid from UK banks.

DWP only use Citibank for payments to foreign banks, not to UK accounts.

Thank for the response Hotandsticky.  I contacted UK Gov pensions by phone when my January payment did not arrive at the usual time. They told me that they prepare payments around10 days prior to deposit date so maybe the money is being moved around by Citbank prior to deposit with Wise.

Everything was running smoothly, for all pension payments, until the start of 2025 since when the UK gov pension is no longer arriving 'on time'.

My apologies, I didn't know that, I thought Citibank processed all payments.

Something else I have learned today....thanks.
