Woman Found Strangled in Paddy Field: Taxi Driver a Key Suspect

Police in Nakhon Pathom are investigating the murder of a woman found strangled in a paddy field in Soi Rai Khing 34, Sam Phran district. Authorities are focusing on a mystery taxi spotted near the crime scene.

 

At 21:30 on 24 February, the 191 Emergency Response Centre received a report of a body discovered in a rice field in Moo 10, Rai Khing subdistrict. Senior officers, including Pol. Col. Chakrapong Trabdee, acting chief of Pho Kaeo Police Station, led a forensic team to the scene. Pol. Col. Pallop Suriyakul Na Ayutthaya, deputy commander of Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, also assisted in overseeing the investigation.

 

The body was identified as a woman aged approximately 45-50 years old. She was found lying face down, wearing a white long-sleeved shirt inside out and unbuttoned denim shorts which were unzipped. A thin brown belt was tightly wrapped around her neck.

 

She wore slip-on shoes and gold earrings, with visible injuries to her mouth and blood near her eyes. Her left hand was in water, while her right hand was clutching grass. There were bruises on her back, arms, and legs. Police collected all necessary evidence before her body was sent to Siriraj Hospital for an autopsy.

 

A key witness, Mr. Wut, who reported the body, told investigators that he was searching for earthworms when he noticed the woman lying motionless. At first, he assumed she was either drunk or unconscious and rushed to get help from a friend who was drinking nearby.

 

During this time, he saw a taxi with its hazard lights on, parked close to where the body was found, but thought little of it at the time.

 

This information led police to focus on the taxi as a prime lead. CCTV footage from Soi Rai Khing 34 and Buddha Monthon Sai 5 showed a taxi circling near the entrance to the crime scene around 21.00. Investigators are now reviewing footage within a 500-metre radius and have found a clump of hair approximately 300 metres from where the body was discovered.

 

Authorities are working to identify the taxi and its driver, as they believe it could be key to solving the case. The investigation remains ongoing.

Murder Case Solved: Suspect Confesses to Killing Woman for Fake Gold

Police in Nakhon Pathom have arrested a 59-year-old man for the murder of a 63-year-old woman, whom he lured to a remote rice field before strangling her and stealing what he believed to be gold jewellery. The suspect later discovered the gold was fake when he attempted to sell it.

 

At a press conference held at Pho Kaeo Police Station, Lieutenant General Naiwat Phadermchit, Commissioner of Region 7 Police, announced that investigators had apprehended the suspect, identified as Mr. Phairat, a resident of Sam Phran District. He was charged with the murder of Mrs. Piad, also known as Noi, whose body was discovered abandoned in a rice field in the Rai Khing area on the night of 24 February.

 

Mr. Phairat confessed to the crime, explaining that he had returned to live with his wife earlier in the month after working as a labourer in Phetchabun province. His wife knew the victim and had asked her to help find a partner for Mr. Phairat. However, struggling with financial difficulties, he devised a plan to rob Mrs. Piad instead.

 

According to police, Mr. Phairat lured Mrs. Piad by telling her he would introduce her to a potential partner. At around 21:30 he picked her up on his wife’s motorcycle from Soi Bang Toei 4, and she rode pillion with him to the crime scene. Upon arrival, he ordered her to get off the motorcycle and demanded she hand over her gold necklace and rings. When she refused, he retrieved his wife’s belt from under the seat and attempted to strangle her. The belt snapped, so he used the remaining length to continue strangling her until she became unresponsive.

 

He then took her gold necklace and two gold rings before fleeing the scene.

 

The following morning, Mr. Phairat took the stolen jewellery to a gold shop in the Phutthamonthon Sai 5 area to sell it. However, he was informed that the items were counterfeit. Frustrated, he threw the two rings into a pond near Wat Song Khanong temple but decided to keep the necklace.

 

Pho Kaeo police charged Mr. Phairat with murder and robbery. He has fully confessed to the crime, claiming he acted alone and that his wife was not involved. However, police remain sceptical and are continuing to question her.

 

Furthermore, forensic examination is underway to verify Mr. Phairat’s claim that he did not sexually assault the victim. Authorities have also discovered that he has a criminal record, having previously been prosecuted for theft twice at Pho Kaeo Police Station.

 

Police are now working to retrieve the discarded rings and gather additional evidence. Mr. Phairat remains in custody as investigations continue.
