I have been living in Thailand for ten years and am going back to England for the first time in this period. :o

I have a one year dependants visa and I am buying my return ticket in Thailand. My question is, will the immigration require an onward ticket from Thailand when I return, hopefully in a months time. I have heard they are getting keen on this, although I believe it was always a requirement, but with me having a one year visa, does it affect me aswell.

If you have a re-entry permit and your extension of stay is still valid when you return, there is not need for an onward ticket

You should have no problems with this but remember to get a re-entry stamp from immigration before you go, Cost 1000 Baht. I do this every 3 month.

Wouldn't it be more convenient for you to get a "Multiple Re-Entry Visa" if you are going that often? Just an idea...

some times they'll only give you one and not multiple as this is a better earner for the imigration officer :o
