Housing Projects

Featured Replies

Having toured dozens of housing projects around Bangkok, I'm amazed at the shoddy quality of workmanship both inside and out. On brand new projectsI have seen fading and peeling paint, cracks, land sinking up to 40cm, gaps in doors and windows.. the list goes on. This also includes townhouses. Out of the 40 or so I've looked at, less than 5 have been of any interest. Price does not seem to be a factor. I looked at a project near Ram Intra which seemed to be good value at 5.5m for a 3 bed home, aluminium windows, quality finish, excellent paintwork (sold out) and then checked across the expressway at a diabolical, treeless, dirty, brokendown moobaan where prices started at 8m. Needless to say, the first project was 99% sold out and the 2nd seemed to have empty streets including some areas that semed to be abandoned.

Land and House seem to be reliable, of a little on the high side but the rest seem to be a lottery.

Has anyone found any developers/projects that have impressed them or seem to be value for money?

Cheers

I only found two developers that had projects that I liked Land & House and Sansiri.

We brought in Sansiri because, in our opinion, the designs were superior (excellent use of space, almost western design style). Nearly all new houses have teething problems and Sansiri's service has been first class, they rectified every defect quickly and at no charge.

They were let down by their telephone providers TOT (only just got a telephone number today after 4 months) but I can't fault the developer for TOT being useless.

Both of these were on the high side but you really do get what you pay for.
