Getting the Thai entry stamp transferred from the old passport to the new passport

Featured Replies

Hi All,

After getting my new passport in Bangkok, I successfully

got the Thai entry stamp to be transferred from the old

passport to the new passport when I flew out of DMK

the other day.

I first joined one of the queues up to the Immigration kiosks,

handed over both my passports to the officer and then I was

asked to move to another kiosk, where another officer did the

stamp transfer for me. The process didn't even take me 1min.

FYI, I was still able to get 45 days to stay in Vietnam on visa-

exemption.

Hope that helps.

Interesting.  It took me over 5 hours to get my son's Extension transferred to his new passport at Chaengwattana on Tuesday!  Even though we were #23 in the queue after arriving at opening time, and the paperwork was promptly checked 20 minutes later (Section N2), we then had to wait until around 2pm before receiving the passport back!  Nightmare.

Seems it turned out son had to accompany you?

Bummer.

I went through Passport Control at DMK just before midnight,

when it wasn't busy.

Well, I think so.  He was there but not sure he needed to be.  I should have asked, but thankfully it's over for another 5 years.

According to this from AI child needs to attend.....I'm surprised.

AI...."Yes, in Thailand, if a child's entry/exit stamps and visas need to be transferred to a new passport, the child must attend the immigration office with their parent or guardian to complete the transfer process.
