Where are you ? I also thought that and then looked at the IQ air live map of fires and there are many in the area around me. 😞 Check your area out and you will most likely be surprised.

Thanks for the tip. I did have a look and in quite a large area between Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom, there are only 4 fires, none of them close to where we live.

BUT, when I take a look at Laos it looks as if the whole country's alight! And the is a light easterly wind blowing right now. So I'm going to blame them.

I've lived in this area for 8 years and I spend a lot of time out in the countryside. The reduction in field burning has been very noticeable, mainly due to mechanization. Tractors and combine harvesters rule the fields nowadays.

The big problem with high PM2.5 levels, is most people do not understand the damage you can do to your lungs living here for years. By the time you do, you are on your way to having COPD.

OP. Then you're not looking:

BREAKING: Chiang Mai topped the list of the most air-polluted major cities in the world anew on Sunday afternoon, March 23, shortly after 2pm, according to IQAir app. Bangkok is at Number 5. Twenty more cities in #Thailand are also in red today

wow! 75 IN your condo! Is that correct?

Unless my meter is out of whack, yes. I did have it up to 500 about 3 years ago.

My 40 reading was from yesterday. It's now 116, time to crank up the air purifiers.

Numbers are there for all to see, all day, all night.   Really don't think anyone cares to waste much time continually talking & reading about it.

I don't, and we still burn our trash, what little we generate.  Oh well :coffee1:

I was like you and then I bought massive black bags, put my rubbish in them, put them in the back of the truck and then put in the bins of government buildings.

There is no burning going in our area and hasn't been for some time. It is now actively discouraged in fact.

Same in our area.

Long over. It's planting season.

Even before much less burning than years ago.

They now collect straw in masses and sell it to somewhere.

Less burning of sugar cane too.

I only burn it, as I figure the govt will do the same.  Since most of it is plastic bags or TP/PT, it gives the govt no chance to dump in the sea.

Burn a Bag ... Save a Turtle :coffee1:

Anything else, gets sold to recycle center, or goes to the compost piles.   About 6 months of recycling sold the other day .... ฿120 ... we can retire soon  :cheesy:
