It only needs more than 100,000 to trigger a debate in parliament.

Petition to cancel Trump’s second state visit to UK hits 200,000 signatures

Like your support for the Ukraine war - you are out of touch with reality.  The UK banning a Trump visit is not going to happen. However, Trump may decide that visiting the UK isn't worth his time.  The British glory days are well behind it now.  Now the UK is just another yapping chihuahua snapping at the heels of their US masters. 👈  There's reality.

Good luck dude, I hope your signature carries more weight than Prince Charles and Keir Starmer.

You can dream!

The country is not run by polls and such bleeting-like entitlement... politicians and diplomats do. Fine if you want to protest, but mob rule is a no-no, I'm afraid. There are many times in politics that leaders have to take a deep breath and do what is pragmatic and good for their own country/interests after properly analysing situations... it's called "realpolitik".

Just because a couple 100k crusty or "damp as a wet paper bag" lefties demand something like an entitled child, doesn't mean it has to happen... most others either don't care or disagree.

The US under Trump is simply going to have to be delicately and pragmatically handled by all of Europe for the next 4 years, as there are still many benefits to having the US on board with stuff... one caveat though, we need seasoned and experienced diplomats plus politicians to do that, which I'm sorry to say, we are short of.

I don't think the people in the UK Parliament are as stupid as the fools who signed this petition.

I agree and as such they should ban his visit.

Cherry picking one sentence from my post completely out of context... nice trolling, give you that. The wise guys on here never cease to amaze.

The arrogance of this comment is absurd. Typical trailer trash commentary.

Why fools? The US president and the US in general are not very popular atvthe moment. A global pariah state.

Oh, nonononono!

We let Harry and that Meghan creature in.

You've gotta accept a Trump visit.

It's only fair.

The UK needs the US a lot more than the other way around, and embarrassing Trump and his voting public would have implications. It's not going to happen of course, because the politicians are a bit smarter than the morons signing this petition.

You are calling people morons, not very nice. You fail to see that the rest of the world spits on Trump or his MAGA nonsense. A significant portion of the US national debt is in foreign hands, and an estimated 20% of all US securities are in foreign control, making the US a mere proxy nation. Talk about moronic.

Yes, that's what I'm calling them, but it's not personal, any more than what Trump haters called his supporters. You're parroting the usual garbage we hear from the left every day.

Quite pathetic really, the screetchy weak people are global....

I think sir Kier is panicking as Trump will sure as sugar be asking why a  conservative journalist got a long stretch in solitary for torpeedoing the woke states false narrative concerning a nasty scrote getting punched for doing horrible things.

You've Donald no mates Trump USA.

On yer own

Whether or not the petition is successful is secondary, what is most important is the amount of pushback it symbolizes. The entire world should be pushing back against this incredibly toxic, incredibly corrupt, morally bankrupt man, and his absolutely ridiculous policies, isolationism, arrogance, idiocy, and tariffs.

Megan is American, you've gotta let her in. Oh! Wait a minute, maybe not. You might deport her to some Central America republic without due process of law.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

But no, we'll deport her to Meh Britain.

The politicians are astute, they won't cancel the visit but they know full well Trump is reviled throughout the Western world beyond the red states of USA,  so the trip might get postponed indefinitely or on the grounds of demonstrations making the visit impractical.

The EX US allies used to think they needed the US, but not anymore!

The EX US Allies cannot trust him (the USA) as they have no idea where he stands form one day's statement(s) to the next day's rebuttal(s) and  vice versa etc etc.
