Georgealbert Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Picture from responders. A 25-year-old woman lost her life in a road collision on Ramkhamhaeng Road after her motorcycle was struck by a car, causing her to fall under a bus. Police Lieutenant Yutthapichai Jongjit, an investigator from Huamark Police Station, received reports of a fatal collision involving a bus and a motorcycle near Soi Ramkhamhaeng 13, Huamark, Bang Kapi District. Emergency responders, forensic doctors from the Police General Hospital, and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene. At the site of the crash, officers found a Route 137 air-conditioned bus, which runs between Ratchadaphisek and Ramkhamhaeng, involved in the collision with a white Honda PCX motorcycle registered in Pattani. The motorcycle rider, identified as Ms. Khoteemah, 25, suffered critical injuries. Rescue workers attempted CPR, but she tragically succumbed to her injuries. CCTV footage revealed that the victim had been riding in the centre of the road, when a black car attempted to overtake her, forcing her motorcycle to topple. She was thrown under the bus, which ran over her, leading to her fatal injuries. Authorities are now gathering evidence and witness statements to proceed with legal action against those responsible. -- 2025-03-26 ScreenRecording_03-25-2025 18-42-42_1.mp4 1 1

No, the CCTV footage reveals that the motorcycle attempted to overtake the bus without checking the lane next to her first where a car had the right of way. This is the typical idiotic behavior of most motorcyclist here in Thailand, they think rules/laws don't apply to them. 3 1
lordgrinz Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Now that I think of it, I had this same type of accident in Bangkok back in 2017, a woman made a lane change without looking and sideswiped my car with her motorcycle, as I was driving straight in my middle lane (3 lane road), and she fell down, thankfully while in fairly slow traffic. I had video, so she was found at fault and responsible for my damages.

That’s as maybe but an experienced motorist would have anticipated that the motor cyclist might have initiated an overtaking move in an obviously tight situation and backed off a little especially as the girl was already in the act of changing lanes - effectively she was hit from behind which makes the motorist partly culpable.

Or if the motorist had reacted to her already initiated lane change and backed off accordingly. Effectively the motorist lacked the necessary due care and attention in a what was clearly a developing dangerous situation for the motorcyclist

Not trained and not competent to operate a scooter. RIP young lady, if only you were trained properly and deemed competent by someone that had a clue before being allowed to ride a scooter.

Again, not properly trained or competent thus not knowing to slow down or see the danger. 1
