The Thai government has denounced false claims online that donations are needed for military working dogs involved in earthquake rescues. These claims have been categorically dismissed, with assurances that these canine heroes are expertly cared for and no additional funding is required.

 

Deputy government spokesperson Karom Phonphlang firmly addressed the misinformation on March 30, advising the public to disregard the misleading messages. “Our K-9 units are well-supported by army veterinarians and handled by specialists under strict protocols,” he stated.

 

This announcement comes as rescue operations intensify in the aftermath of the earthquake on March 28 that devastated Bangkok’s Chatuchak district, including the State Audit Office building collapse. Despite the widespread damage, the government affirms that the rescue operation is well-equipped, with no shortage of resources or manpower.

 

 

 

The government's specialist search-and-rescue teams are actively involved in the mission, supported by highly skilled military search dogs renowned for their ability to detect human scent through dense rubble. These K-9 teams continue to be an integral part of disaster response operations in Thailand, proving vital in locating survivors.
