Man Dies Mysteriously After Police Restrain Him During Violent Outburst in Nonthaburi

A 36-year-old man, identified only as Aon, died under unclear circumstances after suffering seizures while being restrained by police in Bang Bua Thong.

 

According to Ms Areerat, 28, a friend of the deceased, Aon had visited her home the previous evening. Around 23:00 on 30 March, he began acting aggressively, shouting and pacing inside the house. He then threw a brick from a second-floor window, shattering the roof of the porch below, before proceeding to destroy property inside. Fearing for safety, Areerat called the police for assistance.

 

 

When officers arrived, they attempted to restrain Aon and place him in the back of a police pickup truck. Witnesses reported that he initially resisted before suddenly collapsing into seizures and losing consciousness.

 

Another witness, Mr Nattapong, 29, who lives near the entrance of the alley, stated that he initially saw police leading Aon away without any signs of resistance. However, as they tried to secure him in the vehicle, he began struggling. When officers attempted to restrain his legs with handcuffs, Aon reportedly became rigid and unresponsive.

 

Officers removed the restraints and gave him water, and he was able to speak normally for a short time. His friends believed he would recover. However, moments later, he became unnaturally still. Concerned, the officers called for medical assistance, but by the time rescuers arrived, he had already lost consciousness.

 

Rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation found the man, had no pulse. Despite 30 minutes of CPR by medics from Kasemrad International Hospital, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Police have recorded witness statements and confirmed that all accounts align with the officers’ version of events. However, the exact cause of death remains unclear. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

It seemed to happen in public so unlikely to be police assisted. Probably a health issue.

Yep. He was put in the back of the vehicle and then his life somehow just left his body. It’s not weird at all.
