Is it likely that long haul fights in  and out of Thailand over the next few weeks will be affected in any way by the earthquake? I would think the flights out of Thailand should be OK, but what about flights back into Thailand?

Is there a chance that some people booked up for holiday flights to Thailand will be cancelling them maybe causing some flights to be cancelled?

No, you really do worry a lot about travel.

There are reports that people may avoid going to Thailand for holidays, which could cause some flights to Thailand from western countries to be cancelled.

The flight companies are not going to allow half empty planes to fly are they?

I fly BKK/SFO on May 6th. We are going for our daughters wedding on May 10th. We will return on the 26th of May. I am a huge worrier and that thought never crossed my mind. I am hoping Immigration CW is fine as I have a retirement visa to renew on the 29th, appointment booked. That I worried about yesterday since they had mass hysteria there and evacuate the building because a female employee saw the water in her glass "move".  All seems to be fine though. Flying to Myanmar yes, but to Thailand NO

I am no expert on immigration issues. but  should you not get a re entry permit from your local IO or you can get one at the airport.

2pm the 29th retirement visa. 3:30 pm re-entry permit. I prefer before hand as at my age I like going through the fast track, and cant be bothered with getting a re-entry permit at BKK.

Yes, they do fly them empty, I came back on a flight from China and my wife and I were the only 2 passengers. They have aircraft committments and cancellation can cost more than low passenger numbers.

First time I came back after covid, only about 50 passengers on a 380, superb, get stretched out across 4 seats.

I doubt we will see much difference, I still get Skyscanner alerts for the flight I have in June, got one yesterday to say the price on Emirates was now 86K and offered an alternative on Air China at 55K, not bad for 2, BKK to Gatwick return.
