Freelance income, DTV visa, and Thai tax compliance

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have a gig that pays me around $1,500 USD per month, and I usually receive the payments into my Wise account. The company that pays me is based in Singapore.

I'm considering getting the DTV visa and staying in Thailand for more than 180 days in a calendar year. My question is: would it be legal to receive these payments directly into a Thai bank account, issue invoices to my client, and pay taxes in Thailand accordingly?

I don’t mind paying taxes—I just want to make sure this kind of setup is compliant with Thai regulations.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

You have to a be quite a idiot if you plan on actually doing that. Are you even aware of what that means in taxes? Why you mix up the DTV visa with receiving your payments directly into a Thai account and starting to pay taxes, while you can just keep that separated.

Yeah. You are right. I'll keep the funds in my wise account. Cheers.

If you stay more than 180 days, you should register for a tax number.

Monthly income tax would be only about 1717 Baht on 1500$. Peanuts.
