Man Crushed to Death by Collapsing Wall at Abandoned Rice Mill in Ayutthaya

A 59-year-old man was killed after a concrete wall collapsed on him while he was attempting to salvage metal from an abandoned rice mill in Ayutthaya province.

The incident occurred at approximately 18:00 on 7 April in Bang Sai District. Rescue workers from the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Foundation, Bang Sai unit, were alerted to the scene where a man had reportedly been crushed to death by a falling concrete wall.

Upon arrival, authorities found the lifeless body of a man pinned beneath a heavy slab of concrete and blocks. He was later identified as Mr. Chaliew, a resident of Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

Initial investigations suggest that the victim had been breaking apart sections of concrete in the disused rice mill, likely in an effort to extract metal reinforcement rods. During this process, a section of the concrete wall unexpectedly collapsed, fatally crushing him.

Police from Bang Sai Police Station, along with an on-duty physician, conducted an initial examination at the scene. The body was then transferred to Bang Sai Hospital for a formal autopsy.

Authorities are now working to locate the victim’s family so that funeral arrangements can be made.
