A 33-year-old Thai woman remarkably survived after her car plunged off a bridge in Pathum Thani province, though her fall resulted in another motorist being injured. The accident, which occurred at 3.30am on April 10, involved a bluish-gray Honda Civic sedan that fell from over 5 metres high from a U-turn bridge on Phahon Yothin Road and landed on a traffic barrier below.

The driver, Yuwathida, emerged with only minor injuries from the fall, while a nearby motorist, 33-year-old Maethee, who was driving a black Ford Ranger pickup, sustained a head injury after his vehicle overturned roughly 30 metres from the crash site.

According to Yuwathida, she was returning home from a friend's birthday party in the Thunyaburi area and was travelling at high speed due to her work commitments the following morning. She only recalled approaching the U-turn bridge and was unsure of the events that led to the plunge.

Adding to the story's nuances, Yuwathida shared that her car, a second-hand purchase, was only bought a month prior, with insurance registered just a day before the mishap.

Maethee recounted to police that as he was driving, he noticed Yuwathida's vehicle protruding into his lane. In an attempt to avoid a collision, he swerved, causing his truck to lose balance, strike a traffic barrier, and overturn.

While Yuwathida did not comment on alcohol consumption at the party, police have not confirmed if an alcohol test was conducted. The incident underscores the importance of road safety and being cautious when driving, especially late at night or after attending social events, reported The Thaiger.
